What is Quick Tag?

How to remove Quick Tag from Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge
In most cases browser hijackers require more than a simple uninstall through the use of Windows Control panel in order to be fully uninstalled. Make sure you have closed all web browsers and other programs. Next, delete any unwanted and suspicious software from your Control panel.

Now, click the Windows button, type “Control panel” in search and press Enter. Choose “Programs and Features”, then “Uninstall a program”.
Look around the entire list of applications installed on your computer. Most likely, one of them is the Quick Tag hijacker. Choose the suspicious program or the application that name is not familiar to you and uninstall it.

From the “Start” menu in Windows, choose “Control Panel”. Under the “Programs” icon, select “Uninstall a program”.

Remove Quick Tag from Google Chrome
If Google Chrome new tab page, default search engine and startpage were hijacked by Quick Tag then ‘Reset Chrome’ is a method which allows to restore the web-browser to its factory state. To reset Chrome to the original defaults, follow the guide below.
- First start the Chrome and click Menu button (small button in the form of three dots).
- It will open the Google Chrome main menu. Choose More Tools, then press Extensions.
- You will see the list of installed extensions. If the list has the plugin labeled with “Installed by enterprise policy” or “Installed by your administrator”, then complete the following guide: Remove Chrome extensions installed by enterprise policy.
- Now open the Google Chrome menu once again, press the “Settings” menu.
- You will see the Chrome’s settings page. Scroll down and press “Advanced” link.
- Scroll down again and click the “Reset” button.
- The Chrome will open the reset profile settings page as shown on the image above.
- Next click the “Reset” button.
- Once this process is finished, your browser’s home page, search provider and new tab page will be restored to their original defaults.

Remove Quick Tag hijacker from Mozilla Firefox
If the Mozilla Firefox browser search provider by default, home page and new tab are changed to quicknewtab.com and you want to restore the settings back to their default state, then you should follow the steps below. However, your saved passwords and bookmarks will not be changed, deleted or cleared.
Run the Mozilla Firefox and click the menu button (it looks like three stacked lines) at the top right of the browser screen. Next, click the question-mark icon at the bottom of the drop-down menu. It will show the slide-out menu.
Select the “Troubleshooting information”. If you are unable to access the Help menu, then type “about:support” in your address bar and press Enter. It bring up the “Troubleshooting Information” page as shown in the figure below.
Click the “Refresh Firefox” button at the top right of the Troubleshooting Information page. Select “Refresh Firefox” in the confirmation dialog box. The Mozilla Firefox will begin a task to fix your problems that caused by the Quick Tag browser hijacker. After, it’s complete, click the “Finish” button.
Get rid of Quick Tag hijacker from Internet Explorer
If you find that IE internet browser settings such as default search engine, new tab and home page had been hijacked, then you may revert back your settings, via the reset internet browser process.
First, open the IE. Next, click the button in the form of gear (). It will display the Tools drop-down menu, click the “Internet Options” like below.
In the “Internet Options” window click on the Advanced tab, then click the Reset button. The Internet Explorer will open the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” window as shown in the following example. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box, then press “Reset” button.
You will now need to restart your PC system for the changes to take effect.

After the downloading process is done, close all windows on your PC. Further, open the set up file called Zemana.AntiMalware.Setup. If the “User Account Control” dialog box pops up as on the image below, click the “Yes” button.
It will open the “Setup wizard” which will help you install Zemana Free on the computer. Follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
Once installation is complete successfully, Zemana Free will automatically launch and you may see its main window as shown below.
Next, click the “Scan” button . Zemana program will scan through the whole device for the Quick Tag browser hijacker. Depending on your device, the scan can take anywhere from a few minutes to close to an hour. When downloading is done, open the file location and double-click the HitmanPro icon. It will start the Hitman Pro tool. If the User Account Control prompt will ask you want to run the program, click Yes button to continue.
Next, press “Next” for checking your computer for the Quick Tag hijacker. Depending on your personal computer, the scan can take anywhere from a few minutes to close to an hour. When a threat is detected, the number of the security threats will change accordingly. Wait until the the scanning is done.
Once the scan get finished, HitmanPro will show a list of found threats like below.

- When the download is complete, close all applications and windows on your personal computer. Open a folder in which you saved it. Double-click on the icon that’s named MBsetup.
- Choose “Personal computer” option and press Install button. Follow the prompts.
- Once setup is finished, click the “Scan” button to perform a system scan for the Quick Tag hijacker. A system scan may take anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes, depending on your computer.
- After the system scan is done, it will show the Scan Results. When you are ready, click “Quarantine”. After the task is finished, you may be prompted to restart your PC system.
