Very carefully look around the entire list of software installed on your computer. Most likely, one or more of them are responsible for the appearance of pop ups and web browser redirect to the annoying Adware.Norassie ads. If you have many programs installed, you can help simplify the search of harmful programs by sort the list by date of installation. Once you have found a suspicious, unwanted or unused program, right click to it, after that click ‘Uninstall’.

First, click ‘Start’ button and select ‘Control Panel’ at right panel as displayed in the figure below.

After the Windows ‘Control Panel’ opens, you need to click ‘Uninstall a program’ under ‘Programs’ as displayed on the image below.

You will see a list of applications installed on your computer. We recommend to sort the list by date of installation to quickly find the applications that were installed last. Most likely they responsibility for the appearance of pop ups and web-browser redirect. If you are in doubt, you can always check the application by doing a search for her name in Google, Yahoo or Bing. Once the application which you need to delete is found, simply click on its name, and then click ‘Uninstall’ like below.

Remove unwanted Scheduled Tasks

Once installed, the Adware.Norassie can add a task in to the Windows Task Scheduler Library. Due to this, every time when you start your computer, it will open Adware.Norassie intrusive ads. So, you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and remove all harmful tasks that have been created by adware.

Press Windows and R keys on the keyboard simultaneously. This shows a dialog box that titled with Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and press OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, click “Task Scheduler Library”, as displayed below.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Please select the first task, its properties will be show just below automatically. Next, click the Actions tab. Pay attention to that it launches on your computer. Found something like “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address”, then remove this malicious task. If you are not sure that executes the task, check it through a search engine. If it’s a component of the ‘ad-supported’ application, then this task also should be removed.

Having defined the task that you want to remove, then press on it with the right mouse button and choose Delete as displayed in the figure below.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks which have been created by unwanted software. Once is finished, close the Task Scheduler window.

Disinfect the web-browser’s shortcuts

When the Adware.Norassie is started, it can also change the web browser’s shortcuts, adding an argument such as “http://site.address” into the Target field. Due to this, every time you open the browser, it will show an unwanted web-page.

Right click to a desktop shortcut for your internet browser. Choose the “Properties” option. It will open the Properties window. Select the “Shortcut” tab here, after that, look at the “Target” field. The ‘ad supported’ software can change it. If you are seeing something such as “…exe http://site.address” then you need to remove “http…” and leave only, depending on the web-browser you are using:

  • Google Chrome: chrome.exe
  • Opera: opera.exe
  • Firefox: firefox.exe
  • Internet Explorer: iexplore.exe

Once is finished, press the “OK” button to save the changes. Please repeat this step for web browser shortcuts which redirects to an unwanted web-pages. When you have completed, go to next step.

Remove Adware.Norassie ads from Chrome

If your Google Chrome internet browser is redirected to undesired Adware.Norassie ads, it may be necessary to completely reset your web-browser application to its default settings.

  1. First, run the Google Chrome and click the Menu icon (icon in the form of three horizontal stripes).
  2. It will display the Chrome main menu, click the “Settings” menu.
  3. Next, click “Show advanced settings” link, which located at the bottom of the Settings page.
  4. On the bottom of the “Advanced settings” page, press the “Reset settings” button.
  5. The Google Chrome will show the reset settings dialog box as on the image above.
  6. Confirm the web browser’s reset by clicking on the “Reset” button.

Remove Ads by Adware.Norassie adware from Internet Explorer

In order to restore all web-browser newtab page, start page and search engine by default you need to reset the Microsoft Internet Explorer to the state, that was when the Microsoft Windows was installed on your computer.

First, start the IE, press IE tools menu icon) button. Next, click “Internet Options” as shown in the following example.

In the “Internet Options” screen select the Advanced tab. Next, click Reset button. The Microsoft Internet Explorer will display the Reset Internet Explorer settings dialog box. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box and press Reset button.

You will now need to restart your PC for the changes to take effect. It will delete multiple undesired Adware.Norassie advertisements and popups, disable malicious and ad-supported web browser’s extensions and restore the Internet Explorer’s settings such as start page, newtab and search provider by default to default state.

Get rid of Adware.Norassie ads from Firefox

Resetting your FF is good initial troubleshooting step for any issues with your web-browser application, including the redirect to Adware.Norassie ads.

First, run the Firefox. Next, click the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (Firefox menu button). It will display the drop-down menu. Next, click the Help button (Firefox help button).

In the Help menu click the “Troubleshooting Information”. In the upper-right corner of the “Troubleshooting Information” page click on “Refresh Firefox” button as displayed on the screen below.
