Windows 7, Vista, XP
Open Start menu and choose the ‘Control Panel’ at right as on the image below.
Then go to ‘Add/Remove Programs’ or ‘Uninstall a program’ (Windows 7 or Vista) as shown in the figure below.
Carefully browse through the list of installed programs and delete all software that has the name such as “Any Search”. We advise to click ‘Installed programs’ and even sorts all installed programs by date. After you have found anything suspicious that may be the hijacker, adware or PUPs, then select this application and press ‘Uninstall’ in the upper part of the window. If the suspicious program blocked from removal, then use Revo Uninstaller Freeware to fully delete it from your machine.
Clean up the web browsers shortcuts which have been hijacked by Any Search
Now you need to clean up the internet browser shortcuts. Check that the shortcut referring to the right exe-file of the browser, and not on any unknown file.
To clear the web browser shortcut, right-click to it and select Properties. On the Shortcut tab, locate the Target field. Click inside, you will see a vertical line – arrow pointer, move it (using -> arrow key on your keyboard) to the right as possible. You will see a text such as “http://site.address” which has been added here. You need to delete it.
When the text is removed, click the OK button. You need to clean all shortcuts of all your web-browsers, as they may be infected too.
Remove Any Search from FF
The Firefox reset will keep your personal information like bookmarks, passwords, web form auto-fill data and remove unwanted search engine and homepage like Any Search, modified preferences, extensions and security settings.
First, run the Firefox. Next, press the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (). It will open the drop-down menu. Next, press the Help button ().
In the Help menu click the “Troubleshooting Information”. In the upper-right corner of the “Troubleshooting Information” page press on “Refresh Firefox” button as displayed in the figure below.
Confirm your action, click the “Refresh Firefox”.
Delete Any Search from Google Chrome
Like other modern browsers, the Chrome has the ability to reset the settings to their default values and thereby restore the internet browser new tab, home page and search engine by default that have been modified by the Any Search hijacker.
First run the Chrome. Next, click the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (). It will open the main menu. Further, click the option named “Settings”. Another way to show the Google Chrome’s settings – type chrome://settings in the internet browser adress bar and press Enter.
The web browser will open the settings screen. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and press the “Show advanced settings” link. Now scroll down until the “Reset settings” section is visible, as displayed on the screen below and click the “Reset settings” button.
The Chrome will open the confirmation dialog box. You need to confirm your action, click the “Reset” button. The browser will start the process of cleaning. When it’s complete, the browser’s settings including start page, newtab and default search provider back to the values that have been when the Google Chrome was first installed on your computer.
Delete Any Search from Microsoft Internet Explorer
If you find that IE internet browser settings like homepage, newtab page and search engine by default having been hijacked, then you may return your settings, via the reset web browser process.
First, launch the Internet Explorer. Next, click the button in the form of gear (). It will display the Tools drop-down menu, press the “Internet Options” as shown in the following example.
In the “Internet Options” window click on the Advanced tab, then click the Reset button. The IE will open the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” window as displayed on the screen below. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box, then click “Reset” button.
You will now need to reboot your system for the changes to take effect.
