Fix infected web browsers shortcuts to get rid of Asusfix.win redirect

Important to know, most anti-malware software that are able to remove adware, but unable to detect and recover changed shortcuts. So, you need to fix the desktop shortcuts for your Mozilla Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Edge internet browsers manually.

Right click on the browser’s shortcut, click Properties option. On the Shortcut tab, locate the Target field. Click inside, you will see a vertical line – arrow pointer, move it (using -> arrow key on your keyboard) to the right as possible. You will see a text “http://site.address” that has been added here. Remove everything after .exe. An example, for Google Chrome you should remove everything after chrome.exe.

To save changes, press OK . You need to clean all browser’s shortcuts. So, repeat this step for the Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Edge.

Remove unwanted Scheduled Tasks

If the undesired Asusfix.win web-page opens automatically on Windows startup or at equal time intervals, then you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and remove all the tasks which have been created by adware.

Found something such as “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address” or “firefox.exe http://site.address”, then you need get rid of this task. If you are not sure that executes the task, then google it. If it is a component of the ‘ad-supported’ applications, then this task also should be removed.

Remove Asusfix.win pop-ups from Chrome

If your Google Chrome internet browser is redirected to annoying Asusfix.win web page, it may be necessary to completely reset your web browser application to its default settings.

First run the Google Chrome. Next, press the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (Chrome menu button). It will show the main menu. Further, click the option named “Settings”. Another way to display the Chrome’s settings – type chrome://settings in the web browser adress bar and press Enter.

The web browser will open the settings screen. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and press the “Show advanced settings” link. Now scroll down until the “Reset settings” section is visible, like below and click the “Reset settings” button.

The Chrome will show the confirmation prompt. You need to confirm your action, press the “Reset” button. The web browser will launch the process of cleaning. When it’s complete, the web-browser’s settings including homepage, new tab page and search provider by default back to the values that have been when the Google Chrome was first installed on your personal computer.

Remove Asusfix.win redirect from IE

In order to restore all web browser new tab, start page and search engine by default you need to reset the Internet Explorer to the state, which was when the MS Windows was installed on your computer.

First, start the IE, click Internet Explorer tools menu icon) button. Next, click “Internet Options” as displayed in the following example.

It will open the “Troubleshooting Information” page as displayed in the figure below. In the upper-right corner of this screen, click the “Refresh Firefox” button.

The Mozilla Firefox will start a process to fix your problems that caused by the ad supported software that developed to reroute your web browser to various ad web pages such as Asusfix.win.
