How to remove Save Net ads [Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge]

Unwanted ads signed with Save Net or “Powered by Save Net” appeared on your computer without any notice? After that, you’re faced with the fact that your internet browser is filled with a variety of popup ads and banners. The cause of all your problems with your personal computer is adware (sometimes called ‘ad-supported’ software) that has been installed on many PC systems around the world without users permission, so you’re one of many. Most probably, you do not even know how and where this ad supported software has got into your personal computer. In the step-by-step guide below, we will explain all the general features of adware and its typical behavior on the system, as well as effective methods for manually removing it from your PC.

The adware usually affects only the Chrome, FF, Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge by changing the internet browser’s settings or installing a malicious extensions (addons). Moreover, possible situations, when any other web browsers will be affected too. The adware will perform a scan of the PC system for internet browser shortcuts and modify them without your permission. When it infects the browser shortcuts, it’ll add the argument such as ‘http://site.address’ into Target property. So, each time you run the web browser, you will see an annoying Save Net ads.

What is more, the adware may open ads depend on a web-site that you are visiting. That is, it is clear that this adware, without your permission, steals your private information such as: your ip address, what is a web page you are viewing now, what you are looking for on the Internet, which links you are clicking, and much, much more. The ad-supported software may monetize its functionality by collecting data from your browsing sessions and selling it to third party companies. This puts your personal information at a security risk.

How to Save Net pop-up ads get installed onto PC

The adware usually gets onto personal computer by being attached to another application in the same install package. The risk of this is especially high for the various free software downloaded from the Internet. The developers of the applications are hoping that users will use the quick install mode, that is simply to click the Next button, without paying attention to the information on the screen and do not carefully considering every step of the installation procedure. Thus, the adware can infiltrate your machine without your knowledge. Therefore, it is very important to read all the information that tells the application during setup, including the ‘Terms of Use’ and ‘Software license’. Use only the Manual, Custom or Advanced setup mode. This mode will help you to disable all optional and unwanted programs and components.

How to manually remove Save Net pop-up ads

Delete suspicious and unknown software by using Windows Control Panel

First, you should try to identify and uninstall the application that causes the appearance of annoying ads and web-browser redirect to unwanted sites, using the ‘Uninstall a program’ which is located in the ‘Control panel’.

Press Windows key windows key, then click Search windows search. Type ‘Control panel’and press Enter as shown on the screen below.

Very carefully look around the entire list of installed applications. Most likely, one or more of them are responsible for the browser redirect to annoying Save Net ads. If you have many programs installed, you can help simplify the search of malicious applications by sort the list by date of installation. Once you have found a suspicious, unwanted or unused program, right click to it and press ‘Uninstall’.

First, click ‘Start’ button and select ‘Control Panel’ at right panel as shown in the figure below.

When the Windows ‘Control Panel’ opens, you need to click ‘Uninstall a program’ under ‘Programs’ like below.

You will see a list of applications installed on your computer. We recommend to sort the list by date of installation to quickly find the software that were installed last. Most likely they responsibility for the appearance of unwanted pop-up ads and web browser redirect. If you are in doubt, you can always check the program by doing a search for her name in Google, Yahoo or Bing. When the application, you need to remove, is found, simply press on its name, and then press ‘Uninstall’ as shown below.

Disinfect the browser’s shortcuts

When the ad supported software is started, it can also alter the internet browser’s shortcuts, adding an argument such as “http://site.address” into the Target field. Due to this, every time you launch the web browser, it will be redirected to an unwanted ads.

To clear the internet browser shortcut, right-click to it and select Properties. On the Shortcut tab, locate the Target field. Click inside, you will see a vertical line – arrow pointer, move it (using -> arrow key on your keyboard) to the right as possible. You will see a text which begins with “http://” which has been added here. You need to remove it.

When the argument is removed, press the OK button. You need to clean all shortcuts of all your browsers, as they may be infected too.

Remove Save Net pop-up ads from Firefox

If the FF settings have been changed by the ad supported software, then resetting it to the default state can help you to get rid of unwanted Save Net ads.

First, start the Mozilla Firefox and press Mozilla Firefox menu button button. It will open the drop-down menu on the right-part of the web-browser. Next, press the Help button (Firefox help button) like below.

In the Help menu, select the “Troubleshooting Information” option. Another way to open the “Troubleshooting Information” screen – type “about:support” in the web browser address bar and press Enter. It will open the “Troubleshooting Information” page as shown on the screen below. In the upper-right corner of this screen, click the “Refresh Firefox” button.

It will display the confirmation dialog box, click the “Refresh Firefox” button. The Mozilla Firefox will begin a process to fix your problems that caused by the ad-supported software. Once it’s finished, click the “Finish” button

Remove Save Net ads from Chrome

Open the Google Chrome menu by clicking on the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (google chrome menu button). It opens the drop-down menu. Next, click the “Settings” option.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Show advanced settings” link. Now scroll down until the Reset settings section is visible, as on the image below and click the “Reset settings” button.

Confirm your action, click the “Reset” button.

Remove Ads by Save Net from IE

First, run the Internet Explorer, then press Internet Explorer tools menu icon button. Next, click “Internet Options” as shown below.

In the “Internet Options” screen select the Advanced tab. Next, press the “Reset” button. The Internet Explorer will show the “Reset Internet Explorer” settings prompt. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box and click Reset button.

You will now need to reboot your computer for the changes to take effect. It will restore the Internet Explorer’s settings such as homepage, new tab page and search engine by default to default state, disable ad-supported web-browser’s extensions and thereby remove the unwanted ads by Save Net adware.

Delete unwanted Scheduled Tasks

If the annoying Save Net ads opens automatically on Windows startup or at equal time intervals, then you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and get rid of all the tasks that have been created by adware.

Press Windows and R keys on the keyboard together. This displays a prompt that titled with Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, click “Task Scheduler Library”, as shown on the image below.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Select the first task, its properties will be display just below automatically. Next, click the Actions tab. Pay attention to that it launches on your personal computer. Found something like “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address”, then you need remove it. If you are not sure that executes the task, check it through a search engine. If it’s a component of the unwanted programs, then this task also should be removed.

Having defined the task that you want to remove, then press on it with the right mouse button and select Delete as shown in the figure below.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by malicious program. Once is complete, close the Task Scheduler window.

How to block Save Net ads

To increase your security and protect your PC against new annoying advertisements and malicious web-sites, you need to use an application that blocks access to malicious ads and web sites.   2. Once the download is complete, run the downloaded file. You will see the “Setup Wizard” window. Follow the prompts.

Once the download is complete, open the file location and double-click the AdwCleaner icon. It will launch the AdwCleaner utility and you will see a screen as shown in the figure below. If the User Account Control dialog box will ask you want to display the program, press Yes button to continue.

Now, press the “Scan” for checking your computer for the adware that cause a redirect to Save Net advertisements.

When the system scan is complete, it will open a list of all items detected by this utility as shown in the figure below.

You need to press “Clean” button. It will open a dialog box, click “OK” to begin the cleaning procedure. Once the cleaning procedure is complete, the AdwCleaner may ask you to restart your PC system. After restart, the AdwCleaner will show the log file.

Now your computer should be clean of the Save Net pop-up ads. Remove AdwCleaner. We suggest that you keep AdGuard (to help you stop unwanted pop-up ads and annoying harmful web-sites) and Malwarebytes (to periodically scan your computer for new malware and ad supported software).
