  • In the opened window, find Check-the.news, other questionable sites, click the drop-down menu and select ‘Block’.
  • Save changes.
  • In the top right hand corner, click on the three dots to expand the Edge menu.
  • Click ‘Settings’. Click ‘Advanced’ on the left side of the window.
  • Click ‘Manage permissions’ button, located beneath ‘Website permissions’.
  • Right-click the Check-the.news site. Click ‘Delete’.

  • In the right upper corner of the screen, click on the gear icon (menu button).
  • In the drop-down menu select ‘Internet Options’.
  • Select the ‘Privacy’ tab and click ‘Settings below ‘Pop-up Blocker’ section.
  • Select the Check-the.news and other questionable sites below and remove them one by one by clicking the ‘Remove’ button.
  • On the top menu select ‘Safari’, then ‘Preferences’.
  • Open ‘Websites’ tab, then in the left menu click on ‘Notifications’.
  • Locate the Check-the.news domain and select it, click the ‘Deny’ button.

Remove Check-the.news ads from Mozilla Firefox

If the Mozilla Firefox web browser application is hijacked, then resetting its settings can help. The Reset feature is available on all modern version of Firefox. A reset can fix many issues by restoring Firefox settings like search provider by default, startpage and new tab to their default state. When using the reset feature, your personal information such as passwords, bookmarks, browsing history and web form auto-fill data will be saved.

First, open the Mozilla Firefox and click Mozilla Firefox menu button button. It will open the drop-down menu on the right-part of the browser. Further, press the Help button (Firefox help button) as shown on the image below.

In the Help menu, select the “Troubleshooting Information” option. Another way to open the “Troubleshooting Information” screen – type “about:support” in the web browser adress bar and press Enter. It will show the “Troubleshooting Information” page as shown on the image below. In the upper-right corner of this screen, press the “Refresh Firefox” button.

It will open the confirmation prompt. Further, press the “Refresh Firefox” button. The Mozilla Firefox will begin a procedure to fix your problems that caused by the Check-the.news adware. When, it is done, click the “Finish” button.

Remove Check-the.news pop up advertisements from Microsoft Internet Explorer

If you find that Microsoft Internet Explorer web-browser settings like new tab page, startpage and search provider by default had been modified by adware that causes multiple annoying pop ups, then you may return your settings, via the reset browser procedure.

First, open the Internet Explorer, click Internet Explorer tools menu icon) button. Next, click “Internet Options” as displayed on the screen below.

In the “Internet Options” screen select the Advanced tab. Next, click Reset button. The Microsoft Internet Explorer will display the Reset Internet Explorer settings prompt. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box and press Reset button.

You will now need to reboot your PC system for the changes to take effect. It will remove adware responsible for Check-the.news pop-up advertisements, disable malicious and ad-supported internet browser’s extensions and restore the Microsoft Internet Explorer’s settings like newtab, homepage and default search engine to default state.

  3. You’ll see the list of installed add-ons. If the list has the addon labeled with “Installed by enterprise policy” or “Installed by your administrator”, then complete the following instructions: Remove Chrome extensions installed by enterprise policy.
  4. Now open the Google Chrome menu once again, click the “Settings” menu.
  5. You will see the Chrome’s settings page. Scroll down and click “Advanced” link.
  6. Scroll down again and click the “Reset” button.
  7. The Chrome will show the reset profile settings page as on the image above.
  8. Next click the “Reset” button.
  9. Once this process is finished, your web browser’s default search engine, start page and newtab will be restored to their original defaults.
