The OnClickAds is classified as adware (also known as ‘ad-supported’ software) that is created to make money. It can display intrusive pop up advertisements on Windows and Mac, within the Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Microsoft Edge or reroute your web-browser on other ad web pages. If you’re seeing lots of intrusive ads then most probably that your web-browser is infected with this adware. As a result of the adware virus, your web-browser will be full of ads (pop-ups, banners, in-text links, offers to install an unwanted software) and your machine will be slower and slower.

The adware is not a virus, but the virus behaves similarly. As a rootkit hides in the system, changes web browser settings and blocks them from changing. Also the ad-supported software can install additional browser extensions, addons and modules that will inject advertising links within the Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, IE and Microsoft Edge’s screen. Moreover, the adware may install web browser hijacker that once started, will alter the browser’s homepage and search engine. And finally, the adware can collect a wide variety of personal information such as what web-sites you are opening, what you are looking for the Net and so on. This information, in the future, may be transferred to third parties.

The malicious software from the adware virus family that changes the settings of internet browsers usually affects only the Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Edge. However, possible situations, when any other web browsers will be affected too. The adware usually is bundled with another program in the same installation package. The risk of this is especially high for the various free programs downloaded from the Web. The creators of the software are hoping that users will run the quick install mode, that is simply to press the Next button, without paying attention to the information on the screen and don’t carefully considering every step of the install procedure.
