How to remove detect.hipi.gdn redirect [Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge]

The detect.hipi.gdn (exclusiverewards.hipi.gdn) is classified as ‘ad’ web site. It can open annoying pop-ups within the FF, Google Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer and Edge or redirect your browser on other ads web sites. If you’re seeing this unwanted web page then most probably that your internet browser is infected with adware (also known as ‘ad-supported’ software). As a result of the adware infection, your web-browser will be full of advertisements (pop-ups, banners, in-text links, offers to install an unwanted programs) and your computer will be slower and slower.

Uninstall suspicious and unknown software by using Windows Control Panel

We recommend that you begin the PC cleaning procedure by checking the list of installed applications and remove all unknown or suspicious programs. This is a very important step, as mentioned above, very often the malicious software such as ad-supported software and browser hijackers may be bundled with free applications. It will display a list of all applications. Scroll through the all list, and uninstall any suspicious and unknown applications. To quickly find the latest installed applications, we recommend sort applications by date of installation in the Control panel.

Get rid of detect.hipi.gdn redirect from Firefox

If the Firefox settings have been modified by the adware, then resetting it to the default state can help you to remove the redirect onto detect.hipi.gdn web page.

First, launch the FF and click FF menu button button. It will open the drop-down menu on the right-part of the internet browser. Next, click the Help button (Firefox help button) as shown on the screen below.

In the Help menu, select the “Troubleshooting Information” option. Another way to open the “Troubleshooting Information” screen – type “about:support” in the web browser address bar and press Enter. It will show the “Troubleshooting Information” page as on the image below. In the upper-right corner of this screen, click the “Refresh Firefox” button.

It will display the confirmation dialog box, press the “Refresh Firefox” button. The Firefox will start a process to fix your problems that caused by the ‘ad supported’ software. Once it is finished, press the “Finish” button

Get rid of detect.hipi.gdn pop-ups from Google Chrome

Reset Google Chrome settings is a easy way to remove the malware and adware, as well as to restore the web browser’s settings that have been replaced by ‘ad supported’ software.

  1. Now start the Chrome and click Menu button (small button in the form of three horizontal stripes).
  2. It will open the Google Chrome main menu. Select “Settings” option.
  3. You will see the Google Chrome’s settings page. Scroll down and click “Show advanced settings” link.
  4. Scroll down again and press the “Reset settings” button.
  5. The Google Chrome will show the reset profile settings page as shown on the image above.
  6. Next, click the “Reset” button.
  7. When this procedure is complete, your internet browser’s settings will be restored to their original defaults. This will reset your startpage, new tab page and default search engine.

Delete detect.hipi.gdn from Internet Explorer

First, start the Microsoft Internet Explorer, then click the button in the form of gear (IE tools menu icon). It will show the Tools drop-down menu as shown below. Next, click the “Internet Options”.

In the Internet Options window click on the Advanced tab, then click the Reset button. The Internet Explorer will show the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” window as shown on the screen below. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box, then click on “Reset” button.

You will now need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Disinfect the browser’s shortcuts to get rid of detect.hipi.gdn redirect

Once the ‘ad supported’ software is started, it can also modify the web browser’s shortcuts, adding an argument like “http://site.address” into the Target field. Due to this, every time you start the internet browser, it will be redirected to an unwanted ads.

To clear the web-browser shortcut, right-click to it and select Properties. On the Shortcut tab, locate the Target field. Click inside, you will see a vertical line – arrow pointer, move it (using -> arrow key on your keyboard) to the right as possible. You will see a text which starts with “http://” which has been added here. You need to remove it.

When the argument is removed, press the OK button. You need to clean all shortcuts of all your web-browsers, as they may be infected too.

Remove unwanted Scheduled Tasks

If the annoying detect.hipi.gdn web-site opens automatically on Windows startup or at equal time intervals, then you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and remove all the tasks that have been created by unwanted programs.

Press Windows and R keys on the keyboard simultaneously. This displays a dialog box that titled with Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, click “Task Scheduler Library”, as shown in the figure below.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Select the first task, its properties will be open just below automatically. Next, click the Actions tab. Pay attention to that it launches on your PC. Found something like “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address”, then you need remove it. If you are not sure that executes the task, check it through a search engine. If it is a component of the adware, then this task also should be removed.

Having defined the task that you want to get rid of, then click on it with the right mouse button and select Delete as shown on the screen below.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by malicious programs. Once is finished, close the Task Scheduler window.
