How to remove Safe Save ads [Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge]

The appearance of annoying Safe Save popup ads in your internet browser means that your computer is infected with an adware (sometimes called ‘ad-supported’ software). It makes changes to the machine settings and configures itself so as to start automatically each time the computer is turned on. Immediately after startup, the ad supported software begins to monitor the user’s actions and insert ads signed with “Safe Save”, “Ad by Safe Save”, “Powered by Safe Save” directly into the open windows of the Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox and MS Edge. So, if you notice that your web browser has become display these annoying ads, then you do not need to wait . Follow the steps below and remove Safe Save ads as quickly as possible.

The ‘ad supported’ software usually affects only the Chrome, IE, Firefox and MS Edge by changing the web-browser’s settings or installing a malicious extensions (addons). Moreover, possible situations, when any other web-browsers will be affected too. How did Safe Save pop-up ads get on your personal computer

Just as the beginning of this article, if you have ever seen the annoying Safe Save ads appear in your web browser, it means your system has been infected with the adware. Most often ‘ad supported’ software is bundled with free applications. So, think back, have you ever download and start any free applications? Because most users, in the Setup Wizard, simply click the Next button and do not read any information such as ‘Terms of use’ and ‘Software license’. This leads to the fact that the PC is infected, the internet browser’s configured to show a huge number of the Safe Save unwanted ads. Even removing the free applications that contains this adware, the annoying advertisements does not disappear. Therefore, you must follow the instructions below to clean your personal computer from the adware and thereby remove Safe Save advertisements.

Remove suspicious and unknown applications by using Windows Control Panel

The best way to begin the computer cleanup is to delete unknown and suspicious programs. Using the Windows Control Panel you can do this quickly and easily. This step, in spite of its simplicity, should not be ignored, because the removing of unneeded software can clean up your internet browser from ads, hijackers and so on.

  1. If you are using Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 then press Windows key, click Search. Type “Control panel”and press Enter.
  2. If you are using Windows XP, Vista, 7, then press “Start” button and click “Control Panel”.
  3. It’ll show the Windows Control Panel.
  4. Click “Uninstall a program” under Programs category.
  5. You will see a list of all installed applications.
  6. Scroll through the all list, and delete suspicious and unknown applications. To quickly find the latest installed applications, we recommend sort software by date.

Delete Safe Save ads from Firefox

If the Firefox settings have been replaced by the adware, then resetting it to the default state can help you to remove the unwanted Safe Save popup ads.

First, start the Mozilla Firefox and press FF menu button button. It will show the drop-down menu on the right-part of the web-browser. Next, click the Help button (Mozilla Firefox help button) as shown on the screen below.

In the Help menu, select the “Troubleshooting Information” option. Another way to open the “Troubleshooting Information” screen – type “about:support” in the web-browser address bar and press Enter. It will open the “Troubleshooting Information” page as on the image below. In the upper-right corner of this screen, click the “Refresh Firefox” button.

It will display the confirmation prompt, click the “Refresh Firefox” button. The FF will begin a process to fix your problems that caused by the adware. Once it is done, click the “Finish” button

Delete Safe Save pop-up ads from Google Chrome

Open the Google Chrome menu by clicking on the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (google chrome menu button). It opens the drop-down menu. Next, press the “Settings” option.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Show advanced settings” link. Now scroll down until the Reset settings section is visible, like below and click the “Reset settings” button.

Confirm your action, click the “Reset” button.

Remove Ad by Safe Save from IE

To get rid of the Safe Save advertisements you need to reset the Internet Explorer to the state, which was when the Windows was installed on your PC.

First, start the Internet Explorer, then click ‘gear’ icon IE tools menu icon. It will display the drop-down menu on the right part of the browser, then click the “Internet Options” as shown below.

In the “Internet Options” screen, you need to select the “Advanced” tab and click the “Reset” button. The Microsoft Internet Explorer will show the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” dialog box as shown on the screen below. Next, click the “Delete personal settings” check box to select it. After that, click the “Reset” button.

Once the procedure is complete, press “Close” button. Close the IE and reboot your PC for the changes to take effect. This step will help you to restore your internet browser’s settings to default state and disable ‘ad-supported’ extensions.

Disinfect the browser’s shortcuts to delete Safe Save ads

Once the adware is started, it can also change the web-browser’s shortcuts, adding an argument such as “http://site.address” into the Target field. Due to this, every time you open the web-browser, it will be redirected to an unwanted ad pages.

To clear the internet browser shortcut, right-click to it and select Properties. On the Shortcut tab, locate the Target field. Click inside, you will see a vertical line – arrow pointer, move it (using -> arrow key on your keyboard) to the right as possible. You will see a text which starts with “http://” which has been added here. You need to remove it.

When the argument is removed, click the OK button. You need to clean all shortcuts of all your browsers, as they may be infected too.

Remove unwanted Scheduled Tasks

Once installed, the adware can add a task in to the Windows Task Scheduler Library. Due to this, every time when you open your computer, it will show Safe Save unwanted ads. So, you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and delete all tasks that have been created by adware.

Press Windows and R keys on your keyboard together. It will open a dialog box which titled with Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, press “Task Scheduler Library”, like below.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Select the first task, its properties will be display just below automatically. Next, press the Actions tab. Necessary to look at the text which is written under Details. Found something like “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address” or “firefox.exe http://site.address”, then you need delete this task. If you are not sure that executes the task, then google it. If it’s a component of the adware, then this task also should be removed.

Further click on it with the right mouse button and select Delete as shown in the figure below.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by malicious programs. Once is finished, close the Task Scheduler window.

How to remove Safe Save ads automatically
