Are you start your favorite browser and don’t see usual startpage, which is set earlier? The babi.gdn unwanted website is the first thing that pop up once you run your web-browser? It means that your machine has become the victim of malware from the group of ‘ad-supported’ software (also known as adware). If you get it on your computer, this ad supported software can modify the web-browser’s settings like homepage, new tab page and search engine by default and install malicious extension that will show a large number of unwanted pop-ups within the Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge screen. Delete suspicious and unknown software by using Windows Control Panel

Press Windows key windows key, then click Search windows search. Type “Control panel”and press Enter. If you using Windows XP or Windows 7, then click “Start” and select “Control Panel”. It will show the Windows Control Panel as shown in the following image. windows control panel.jpg

Next, press “Uninstall a program” remove programs panel It’ll display a list of all applications. Scroll through the all list and remove any suspicious and unknown programs.

When installed, the adware may add an argument such as “http://site.address” into the Target property of the desktop shortcut for the Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Edge. Due to this, every time you launch the web-browser, it will display the babi.gdn annoying web-page.

Right click on the internet browser’s shortcut, click Properties option. On the Shortcut tab, locate the Target field. Click inside, you will see a vertical line – arrow pointer, move it (using -> arrow key on your keyboard) to the right as possible. You will see a text that begins with “http://”. Remove it or everything after .exe. An example, for Google Chrome you should remove everything after chrome.exe.

Next, click OK to save changes. You need to clean all internet browser’s shortcuts. So, repeat this step for the Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and MS Edge.

Get rid of babi.gdn ads from Google Chrome

Like other modern web browsers, the Google Chrome has the ability to reset the settings to their default values and thereby delete the redirect to babi.gdn unwanted ads that is caused by the ad supported software.

At first, start the Chrome. Next, click the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (google chrome menu button). It will appear the main menu. Click on the option named “Settings”. Another way to display the Chrome’s settings – type chrome://settings in the browser adress bar and press Enter.

The web browser will display the settings screen. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Show advanced settings” link. Now scroll down until the “Reset settings” section is visible, as shown on the screen below and click the “Reset settings” button.

The Google Chrome will open the confirmation prompt. You need to confirm your action, click the “Reset” button. The program will start the task of cleaning. When it’s complete, the internet browser settings including the ‘block pop-ups’ option back to the values that have been when the Google Chrome was first installed on your PC system.

Remove babi.gdn advertisements from Mozilla Firefox

If the Firefox settings have been replaced by the ‘ad-supported’ software, then resetting it to the default state can help you to get rid of the reroute onto babi.gdn web-site.

First, start the Mozilla Firefox and click Firefox menu button button. It will show the drop-down menu on the right-part of the web browser. Next, click the Help button (FF help button) as shown below.

In the Help menu, select the “Troubleshooting Information” option. Another way to open the “Troubleshooting Information” screen – type “about:support” in the web-browser address bar and press Enter. It will show the “Troubleshooting Information” page as on the image below. In the upper-right corner of this screen, click the “Refresh Firefox” button.

It will display the confirmation prompt, click the “Refresh Firefox” button. The Firefox will start a process to fix your problems that caused by the adware. Once it is complete, click the “Finish” button

Remove babi.gdn pop-ups from Internet Explorer

First, start the Internet Explorer, then click Microsoft Internet Explorer tools menu icon button. Next, click “Internet Options” as on the image below.

In the “Internet Options” screen select the Advanced tab. Next, click the “Reset” button. The Internet Explorer will open the “Reset Internet Explorer” settings prompt. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box and press Reset button.

You will now need to restart your machine for the changes to take effect. It will restore the IE’s settings such as start page and search provider by default to default state, disable ad-supported web-browser’s extensions and thereby remove the redirect to babi.gdn unwanted web-page.

Remove unwanted Scheduled Tasks

Once installed, the ‘ad-supported’ software can add a task in to the Windows Task Scheduler Library. Due to this, every time when you open your machine, it will open babi.gdn unwanted web-site. So, you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and delete all tasks that have been created by adware.

Press Windows and R keys on your keyboard at the same time. It will show a dialog box that called Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, click “Task Scheduler Library”, as shown in the figure below.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Select the first task, its properties will be open just below automatically. Next, click the Actions tab. Necessary to look at the text which is written under Details. Found something like “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address” or “firefox.exe http://site.address”, then you need remove this task. If you are not sure that executes the task, then google it. If it’s a component of the ‘ad-supported’ applications, then this task also should be removed.

Further click on it with the right mouse button and select Delete as shown on the screen below.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by ‘ad-supported’ software. Once is complete, close the Task Scheduler window.

How to delete babi.gdn with free malware removal application

  2. At the download page, click the Download button. Your web browser will show the “Save as” prompt. Please save it onto your desktop.
  3. When the download process is complete, please close all applications and open windows on your PC. Double-click on the icon that’s named mb3-setup.
  4. This will run the Setup wizard of Malwarebytes onto your system. Follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  5. Once the Setup wizard has finished installing, the malware remover will start and open the main window.
  6. Further, press the “Scan Now” button . This will start scanning the whole computer to find out adware which redirects your web-browser to the babi.gdn unwanted web page. This task can take quite a while, so please be patient.
  7. When the system scan is done, it will display a screen which contains a list of malicious applications that has been found.
  8. When you are ready, click on “Quarantine Selected” button to begin cleaning your PC. When the task is complete, you may be prompted to restart your machine.
  9. Close the Anti-Malware and continue with the next step.
