Every file on the victim’s computer becomes a target for Qapo ransomware, regardless of whether it is on an internal drive or network storage. However, files in the operating system directories, with extensions such as .dll, .lnk, .bat, ini, .sys, and files named ‘_readme.txt’ are not encrypted.

A Qapo file is a file that has been encrypted by the ransomware, and its contents are locked. The virus renames the encrypted file by adding the ‘.Qapo’ extension to the original file name. A file that was initially named ‘document.docx,’ for example, will become ‘document.docx.Qapo’ after encryption.
