TechnologyMain is a potentially unwanted application (PUA) that falls under the category of Adware . Adware is a part of software whose motive is to make profit for its author. It have various ways of earning by displaying the ads forcibly to its victims. Adware software can open pop-up deals, display unsolicited ads, modify the victim’s internet browser settings, or redirect the victim’s browser to unknown websites. Aside from causing unwanted ads and browser redirects, it also can slow down the MAC OS.

How to remove TechnologyMain adware

According to experienced security experts, TechnologyMain removal can be finished manually and/or automatically. These tools which are listed below will help you delete adware, malicious browser extensions, malicious software and potentially unwanted apps . However, if you’re not willing to install other programs to get rid of adware software, then use following guide to restore your MAC settings to their previous states.

Remove unwanted profiles on Mac device

TechnologyMain can install a configuration profile on the Mac system to block changes made to the browser settings. Therefore, you need to open system preferences, find and delete the profile installed by the adware software.

Click Apple menu ( ) > System Preferences.

In System Preferences, select Profiles. if there is no Profiles in the list of preferences, that means there are no profiles installed on the Mac. If there is Profiles in the list, then click on it, then select a profile related to TechnologyMain.

To delete a malicious profile, click on the minus button ( – ) located at the bottom-left of the Profiles screen.

Check the list of installed software

In order to remove adware, potentially unwanted programs and browser hijackers, open the Finder and click on “Applications”. Check the list of installed apps. For the ones you do not know, run an Internet search to see if they are potentially unwanted programs, browser hijackers and adware. If yes, remove them off. Even if they are just a software which you do not use, then deleting them off will increase your Apple Mac start up time and speed dramatically.

Open Finder and click “Applications” as shown in the figure below.

You will see a list of applications installed on your MAC. We recommend to pay maximum attention to the program you installed last. Most likely, it is the TechnologyMain adware software. If you’re in doubt, you can always check the program by doing a search for her name in Google, Yahoo or Bing.

When the program which you need to uninstall is found, simply right click on its name, and choose “Move to Trash”.

Don’t forget, select Finder, then “Empty Trash”.

Remove TechnologyMain related files and folders

Now you need to try to find TechnologyMain related files and folders, and then delete them manually. You need to look for these files in certain directories. To quickly open them, we recommend using the “Go to Folder…” command.

Click on the Finder icon. From the menu bar, select Go and click “Go to Folder…”. As a result, a small window opens that allows you to quickly open a specific directory.

In the “Go to Folder…” window, type the following text and press Go:
/Library/LaunchAgents

This will open the contents of the “/Library/LaunchAgents” folder. Look carefully at it and pay special attention to recently created files, as well as files that have a suspicious name. Move all suspicious files to the Trash. A few examples of files: macsearch.plist, com.machelper.plist, TechnologyMain.plist, search.plist and installapp.plist. Most often, browser hijackers, potentially unwanted programs and adware create several files with similar names.

Check for TechnologyMain generated files in the /Library/Application Support folder

In the “Go to Folder…” window, type the following text and press Go:
/Library/Application Support

This will open the contents of the “Application Support” folder. Look carefully at its contents, pay special attention to recently added/changed folder. Move all suspicious folders to the Trash.

Check for TechnologyMain generated files in the “~/Library/LaunchAgents” folder

In the “Go to Folder…” window, type the following text and press Go:

Proceed in the same way as with the “/Library/LaunchAgents” and “/Library/Application Support” folders. Look for suspicious and recently added files. Move all suspicious files to the Trash.

Check for TechnologyMain generated files in the /Library/LaunchDaemons folder

In the “Go to Folder…” window, type the following text and press Go:
/Library/LaunchDaemons

Carefully browse the entire list of files and pay special attention to recently created files, as well as files that have a suspicious name. Move all suspicious files to the Trash. A few examples of files to be deleted: com.search.plist, com.machelper.plist, com.macsearch.plist, com.TechnologyMain.plist and com.installapp.plist. In most cases, adware software, browser hijackers and PUPs create several files with similar names.

Scan your Mac with MalwareBytes

Manual TechnologyMain removal requires some computer skills. Some files and system entries that created by the adware can be not fully removed. We recommend that use MalwareBytes Free to scan the Mac device. Moreover, this program will allow you to remove adware, toolbars, PUPs and browser hijackers that your machine can be affected too.

When the download is complete, close all programs and windows on your MAC. Open a directory in which you saved it. Run the saved file and follow the prompts.

Once installation is finished, you will see window as shown on the image below.

Now click the “Scan” button to perform a system scan with this tool for the TechnologyMain adware. Depending on your computer, the scan can take anywhere from a few minutes to close to an hour. When a threat is found, the count of the security threats will change accordingly. Wait until the the scanning is finished.

To be able to do that, the ad blocker program uses a list of filters. Each filter is a rule that describes a malicious web site, an advertising content, a banner and others. The ad-blocker application automatically uses these filters, depending on the web pages you’re visiting.
