Delete Speed-open2 from Internet Explorer

By resetting Internet Explorer internet browser you return your browser settings to its default state. This is good initial when troubleshooting problems that might have been caused by Speed-open2 malware that causes lots of intrusive ads.

First, launch the IE, then click ‘gear’ icon Internet Explorer tools menu icon. It will show the Tools drop-down menu on the right part of the web-browser, then click the “Internet Options” as displayed in the figure below.

Once the task is complete, click “Close” button. Close the Internet Explorer and reboot your computer for the changes to take effect. This step will help you to restore your web-browser’s default search provider, home page and new tab page to default state.

Remove Speed-open2 malware from Chrome

If you are getting Speed-open2 web-site, then you can try to get rid of it by resetting Chrome to its original state. It will also clear cookies, content and site data, temporary and cached data. However, your themes, bookmarks, history, passwords, and web form auto-fill information will not be deleted.

Open the Chrome menu by clicking on the button in the form of three horizontal dotes (chrome menu button). It will open the drop-down menu. Choose More Tools, then click Extensions.

Carefully browse through the list of installed extensions. If the list has the extension labeled with “Installed by enterprise policy” or “Installed by your administrator”, then complete the following instructions: Remove Google Chrome extensions installed by enterprise policy otherwise, just go to the step below.

Open the Google Chrome main menu again, click to “Settings” option.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Advanced” link. Now scroll down until the Reset settings section is visible, as shown in the figure below and press the “Reset settings to their original defaults” button.

Confirm your action, click the “Reset” button.

Remove Speed-open2 from Mozilla Firefox by resetting browser settings

The Firefox reset will get rid of redirects to undesired Speed-open2 website, modified preferences, extensions and security settings. It will keep your personal information like browsing history, bookmarks, passwords and web form auto-fill data.

Start the Firefox and click the menu button (it looks like three stacked lines) at the top right of the web browser screen. Next, press the question-mark icon at the bottom of the drop-down menu. It will open the slide-out menu.

Select the “Troubleshooting information”. If you are unable to access the Help menu, then type “about:support” in your address bar and press Enter. It bring up the “Troubleshooting Information” page as displayed in the following example.

Click the “Refresh Firefox” button at the top right of the Troubleshooting Information page. Select “Refresh Firefox” in the confirmation dialog box. The Firefox will start a procedure to fix your problems that caused by the Speed-open2 malware which causes undesired pop up ads. When, it’s complete, click the “Finish” button.

Fix web browser shortcuts, altered by malware

Important to know, most anti malware programs which are able to remove Speed-open2 virus that causes a huge number of undesired pop-up advertisements, but unable to search for and recover altered shortcuts. Once is finished, click the “OK” button to save the changes. Please repeat this step for web browser shortcut files which redirects to an unwanted web-sites. When you have completed, go to next step.

Delete unwanted Scheduled Tasks

If the undesired Speed-open2 website opens automatically on Windows startup or at equal time intervals, then you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and delete all tasks that have been created by Speed-open2 malware.

Press Windows and R keys on your keyboard at the same time. It will show a dialog box that titled with Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, click “Task Scheduler Library”, as displayed in the figure below.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Select the first task, its properties will be display just below automatically. Next, click the Actions tab. Necessary to look at the text which is written under Details. Found something such as “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address” or “firefox.exe http://site.address”, then you need get rid of this task. If you are not sure that executes the task, then google it. If it’s a component of the malicious program, then this task also should be removed.

Further click on it with the right mouse button and select Delete as displayed below.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by Speed-open2 malware. Once is complete, close the Task Scheduler window.

  2. At the download page, click on the Download button. Your web-browser will display the “Save as” dialog box. Please save it onto your Windows desktop.
  3. After downloading is finished, please close all software and open windows on your system. Double-click on the icon that’s named mb3-setup.
  4. This will open the “Setup wizard” of MalwareBytes Anti Malware (MBAM) onto your machine. Follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  5. When the Setup wizard has finished installing, the MalwareBytes AntiMalware will open and show the main window.
