Get rid of Ad Network Performance ads from Firefox

If the Mozilla Firefox settings have been changed by the ‘ad supported’ software, then resetting it to the default state can help you to remove the redirect onto “Ad Network Performance” ad web sites.

First, launch the Firefox and click Firefox menu button button. It will display the drop-down menu on the right-part of the internet browser. Next, press the Help button (Firefox help button) as shown below.

In the Help menu, select the “Troubleshooting Information” option. Another way to open the “Troubleshooting Information” screen – type “about:support” in the web-browser address bar and press Enter. It will show the “Troubleshooting Information” page as on the image below. In the upper-right corner of this screen, click the “Refresh Firefox” button.

It will open the confirmation prompt, click the “Refresh Firefox” button. The FF will begin a process to fix your problems that caused by the adware. Once it’s finished, click the “Finish” button

Remove Ad Network Performance redirect virus from Chrome

Like other modern web browsers, the Google Chrome has the ability to reset the settings to their default values and thereby remove the redirect to Ad Network Performance unwanted ads that is caused by the adware.

At first, run the Chrome. Next, click the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (google chrome menu button). It will appear the main menu. Click on the option named “Settings”. Another way to display the Chrome’s settings – type chrome://settings in the web-browser adress bar and press Enter.

The internet browser will open the settings screen. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Show advanced settings” link. Now scroll down until the “Reset settings” section is visible, as shown on the image below and click the “Reset settings” button.

The Google Chrome will show the confirmation dialog box. You need to confirm your action, press the “Reset” button. The program will run the task of cleaning. When it is complete, the web-browser settings including the ‘block pop-ups’ option back to the values that have been when the Chrome was first installed on your PC system.

Remove Ad Network Performance advertisements from Internet Explorer

First, launch the IE, then press Microsoft Internet Explorer tools menu icon button. Next, press “Internet Options” as shown on the screen below.

In the “Internet Options” screen select the Advanced tab. Next, click the “Reset” button. The Internet Explorer will show the “Reset Internet Explorer” settings dialog box. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box and press Reset button.

You will now need to reboot your PC for the changes to take effect. It will restore the IE’s settings like homepage, new tab page and search engine by default to default state, disable ad-supported browser’s extensions and thereby get rid of the redirect to Ad Network Performance unwanted web site.

When the adware is started, it can also modify the browser’s shortcuts, adding an argument like “http://site.address” into the Target field. Due to this, every time you start the browser, it will be redirected to an unwanted ads.

To clear the web browser shortcut, right-click to it and select Properties. On the Shortcut tab, locate the Target field. Click inside, you will see a vertical line – arrow pointer, move it (using -> arrow key on your keyboard) to the right as possible. You will see a text which begins with “http://” that has been added here. You need to remove it.

When the argument is removed, press the OK button. You need to clean all shortcuts of all your browsers, as they may be infected too.

Remove unwanted Scheduled Tasks

Once installed, the ‘ad supported’ software can add a task in to the Windows Task Scheduler Library. Due to this, every time when you open your system, it will open Ad Network Performance annoying site. So, you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and delete all tasks that have been created by adware.

Press Windows and R keys on your keyboard at the same time. It will open a dialog box that titled as Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, click “Task Scheduler Library”, as shown on the screen below.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Select the first task, its properties will be show just below automatically. Next, press the Actions tab. Necessary to look at the text which is written under Details. Found something like “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address” or “firefox.exe http://site.address”, then you need remove this task. If you are not sure that executes the task, then google it. If it is a component of the adware, then this task also should be removed.

Further click on it with the right mouse button and select Delete as shown below.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by adware. Once is complete, close the Task Scheduler window.

How to remove Ad Network Performance automatically

Manual removal is not always as effective as you might think. Often, even the most experienced users can not completely remove Ad Network Performance redirect virus from the infected system. When downloading is done, close all programs on your system. Next, launch the setup file named mb3-setup. If the “User Account Control” prompt pops up as shown on the image below, press the Yes button.

It will display the “Setup wizard” that will help you install Malwarebytes on your machine. Follow the prompts and don’t make any changes to default settings.

Once setup is finished successfully, press Finish button. Then Malwarebytes will automatically start and you can see its main screen as shown below.

Now press the “Scan Now” button to start scanning your personal computer for the Ad Network Performance adware which cause a redirect to unwanted ad web-sites.
