Next, press “Uninstall a program” ControlPanel Uninstall
It will display a list of all programs installed on your personal computer. Scroll through the all list, and remove any suspicious and unknown software. To quickly find the latest installed applications, we recommend sort applications by date in the Control panel.

Disinfect the browser’s shortcuts to get rid of Search encrypt

Right click to a desktop shortcut for your internet browser. Choose the “Properties” option. It will open the Properties window. Select the “Shortcut” tab here, after that, look at the “Target” field. The hijacker infection can replace it. If you are seeing something like “…exe http://site.address” then you need to remove “http…” and leave only, depending on the web browser you are using:

  • Google Chrome: chrome.exe
  • Opera: opera.exe
  • Firefox: firefox.exe
  • Internet Explorer: iexplore.exe

Once is complete, click the “OK” button to save the changes. Please repeat this step for internet browser shortcuts which redirects to an annoying web-pages. When you have completed, go to next step.

Remove Search encrypt from Mozilla Firefox by resetting browser settings

Resetting your Mozilla Firefox is good initial troubleshooting step for any issues with your internet browser program, including the redirect to Search encrypt web site.

First, start the Firefox. Next, click the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (FF menu button). It will show the drop-down menu. Next, click the Help button (FF help button).

In the Help menu press the “Troubleshooting Information”. In the upper-right corner of the “Troubleshooting Information” page click on “Refresh Firefox” button as shown on the image below.

Confirm your action, click the “Refresh Firefox”.

Get rid of Search encrypt from Chrome

If your Google Chrome web browser is redirected to annoying Search encrypt page, it may be necessary to completely reset your browser program to its default settings.

First run the Chrome. Next, press the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (Chrome menu button). It will open the main menu. Further, click the option named “Settings”. Another way to display the Google Chrome’s settings – type chrome://settings in the web browser adress bar and press Enter.

The internet browser will show the settings screen. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the “Show advanced settings” link. Now scroll down until the “Reset settings” section is visible, as shown in the figure below and press the “Reset settings” button.

The Chrome will open the confirmation dialog box. You need to confirm your action, press the “Reset” button. The internet browser will start the process of cleaning. When it is done, the browser’s settings including startpage, newtab page and search engine by default back to the values that have been when the Google Chrome was first installed on your computer.

Delete Search encrypt homepage from IE

To restore the startpage, new tab and search engine by default you need to reset the Internet Explorer to the state, which was when the MS Windows was installed on your PC system.

First, run the Internet Explorer. Next, click the button in the form of gear (Microsoft Internet Explorer tools menu icon). It will show the Tools drop-down menu, click the “Internet Options” as shown on the screen below.

In the “Internet Options” window click on the Advanced tab, then click the Reset button. The Internet Explorer will display the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” window as shown in the figure below. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box, then click “Reset” button.

You will now need to reboot your personal computer for the changes to take effect.

Once installed, the Malwarebytes will try to update itself and when this task is done, click the “Scan Now” button to perform a system scan with this utility for the Search encrypt hijacker and other malicious software and adware. After downloading is finished, open the folder in which you saved it. You will see an icon like below.

Double click the AdwCleaner desktop icon. When the tool is launched, you will see a screen as shown below.

Further, press “Scan” button for checking your personal computer for the Search encrypt hijacker and other malware and adware. This process may take quite a while, so please be patient. When the system scan is finished, it will show a screen which contains a list of malicious software that has been detected as shown below.

    I will try this — I visited the Search Encrypt site. They are located in Cypress. I will not allow those “click-thru clowns” to steal from me. The only clue I had for their existence was when they posted their logo in the upper left corner of their version of the “Highjacked search list.

    Did all this didn’t detect anything, I’m beginning to think Search Encrypt maybe ad supported.

    I tried to replicate the problem using TOR, there are no ads under TOR so its either a browser hijack or a rogue plugin.
