How to remove XP Internet Security 2010, XP Guardian, Antivirus XP 2010

Myantispyware team January 28, 2010

XP Internet Security 2010 also known as XP Guardian, XP AntiSpyware 2010, XP Antivirus Pro and Antivirus XP 2010, XP Smart security 2010, XP Defender Pro, Total XP Security is a rogue antispyware program that reports false infections and shows fake security alerts as a method of scaring you into buying the software. The rogue is distributed through the use of trojans. When the trojan is started, it will download and install XP Internet Security 2010 (XP Guardian or Antivirus XP 2010) onto your computer.

During installation, XP Internet Security 2010 (XP Guardian or Antivirus XP 2010) will register itself in the Windows registry to run automatically every time when you start an application (files with “exe” extension). The rogue also uses this method of running to block the ability to run any programs, including security applications.

Once running, XP Internet Security 2010 (XP Guardian or Antivirus XP 2010) will begin to scan your computer and list a large amount of infections. All of these infections are fake, so you can safely ignore them. What is more, while the rogue is running, it will display fake security alerts and notifications with “Spyware infection has been found” or “Tracking software found” header. However, all of these alerts are fake.

Last but not least, XP Internet Security 2010 (XP Guardian or Antivirus XP 2010) will hijack Internet Explorer and Firefox and display fake warnings when you opening a web site.

As you can see, XP Internet Security 2010 (XP Guardian or Antivirus XP 2010) is designed with one purpose to scare you into thinking that your computer in danger as method to trick you into purchasing the full version of the program. If your computer is infected with this malware, then most importantly, do not purchase it! Uninstall the rogue from your PC as soon as possible. Use the removal guide below to remove XP Internet Security 2010 (XP Guardian or Antivirus XP 2010) from the system for free.

xp guardian 2010 tries to force us to spend money that we dont need to spend or want to spend…

this “fix” you are offering still costs $40 since you FORGOT to mention that it is not a free version on your website. furthermore, damn near every post on this site is the same horrible english as if it came from the same person.

i’m under the suspicious that this site is affiliated with the virus it claims to want to rid the world of. IF not, then you really should specify that we have the option of paying the virus or we can pay you, either way the options are rediculous.

thank you very much for wasting my time installing a product that will not work unless i spend money. i will be removing the virus my way, free and simple.

This is a great fix, but I am having to run it again for a second time. I did it about a month ago and it cured the problem. I am just wondering why I keep getting this thing on my computer? Thanks for any info!

I just tried using the first method which didn’t seem to do anything because Malware bytes would not run afterward. Then I used the second method. Now, all I get is a black screen where the the profile pictures are supposed to come up. Any help would be appreciated. I am computer literate so I know I followed your simple instructions correctly. Please help! Thanks!

One other thing maybe I should add…my computer froze about a minute after running the .inf file and I had to manually reboot by holding down the button to turn it off. Ever since then all I get is a blank screen when I turn on again…

I tried this the first time I got teh virus and it worked wonders! It was fine for a month or so but now I keep getting the virus under different names, and it just randomly leaves by itself, and then comes back a few hours later under a different name. However, when I try to run the “fix.reg” I get the same prompt that Ambia did “Not all data was successfully written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes”. And when I run Malwarebytes, it doesn’t detect anything at all. I tried the OTM thing you posted, but when I go to download it, there’s no way for me to change it to “otm.com”

    ― March 30, 2010 - 9:11 pm  Reply

Carmen, try method 2 of step 1, then update Malwarebytes and perform a scan.

I tried to save Method 1 as fix.reg, All types, Unicode, but nothing happened. It is always giving the message: cannot import the file is not a registry script. You can only import binary files from within registry editor..

    PLEASE HELP ME!!! Thanks
