  4. This will open the “Setup wizard” of Zemana Free onto your PC system. Follow the prompts and don’t make any changes to default settings.
  5. When the Setup wizard has finished installing, the Zemana will launch and open the main window.

  2. At the download page, click on the Download button. Your internet browser will open the “Save as” dialog box. Please save it onto your Windows desktop.
  3. After the download is finished, please close all applications and open windows on your machine. Double-click on the icon that’s called mb3-setup.
  4. This will open the “Setup wizard” of MalwareBytes onto your computer. Follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  5. When the Setup wizard has finished installing, the MalwareBytes Free will start and display the main window.
  6. Further, press the “Scan Now” button to begin checking your machine for the Trojan.Emotet and other kinds of potential threats such as malicious software and potentially unwanted software. When a threat is found, the number of the security threats will change accordingly.
  7. Once MalwareBytes Anti Malware has finished scanning, MalwareBytes Free will open a list of found threats.
  8. You may get rid of items (move to Quarantine) by simply press the “Quarantine Selected” button. Once disinfection is finished, you may be prompted to reboot the machine.
  9. Close the Anti-Malware and continue with the next step.

Remove Trojan.Emotet virus from Google Chrome

If Chrome web-browser settings are infected by Trojan.Emotet virus then ‘Reset Chrome’ is a method that helps to return the internet browser to its factory state. To reset Chrome to the original defaults, follow the steps below.

  1. First start the Google Chrome and click Menu button (small button in the form of three dots).
  2. It will display the Chrome main menu. Select More Tools, then click Extensions.
  3. You’ll see the list of installed addons. If the list has the extension labeled with “Installed by enterprise policy” or “Installed by your administrator”, then complete the following guidance: Remove Chrome extensions installed by enterprise policy.
  4. Now open the Google Chrome menu once again, click the “Settings” menu.
  5. You will see the Google Chrome’s settings page. Scroll down and click “Advanced” link.
  6. Scroll down again and click the “Reset” button.
  7. The Chrome will open the reset profile settings page as on the image above.
  8. Next click the “Reset” button.
  9. Once this procedure is done, your browser’s home page, search engine by default and new tab will be restored to their original defaults.

Delete Trojan.Emotet virus from Mozilla Firefox

If the Firefox settings have been modified by the Trojan.Emotet virus, then resetting it to the default state can help. Essential information such as bookmarks, browsing history, passwords, cookies, auto-fill data and personal dictionaries will not be removed.

Click the Menu button (looks like three horizontal lines), and press the blue Help icon located at the bottom of the drop down menu as shown in the following example.

Follow the onscreen procedure to return your Firefox browser settings to their original settings.

Remove Trojan.Emotet from Internet Explorer

In order to restore all internet browser default search provider, startpage and new tab page you need to reset the Internet Explorer to the state, which was when the Windows was installed on your machine.

First, start the Internet Explorer, press Internet Explorer tools menu icon) button. Next, click “Internet Options” as shown in the following example.

In the “Internet Options” screen select the Advanced tab. Next, click Reset button. The Internet Explorer will open the Reset Internet Explorer settings prompt. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box and click Reset button.

You will now need to reboot your PC system for the changes to take effect. It will remove virus and other malicious software and potentially unwanted apps, disable malicious and ad-supported web browser’s extensions and restore the Internet Explorer’s settings like search provider, home page and newtab to default state.

Run AdBlocker to stay safe online

If you browse the World Wide Web, you cannot avoid malvertising. But you can protect your web browser against it. Download and run an ad-blocker program. AdGuard is an adblocker that can filter out lots of of the malvertising, stoping dynamic scripts from loading malicious content.

  2. Once the download is complete, run the downloaded file. You will see the “Setup Wizard” program window. Follow the prompts.
  3. After the install is done, press “Skip” to close the setup application and use the default settings, or click “Get Started” to see an quick tutorial that will assist you get to know AdGuard better.
  4. In most cases, the default settings are enough and you don’t need to change anything. Each time, when you run your PC, AdGuard will launch automatically and stop unwanted pop up ads, as well as other harmful or misleading pages.
