Click the “Refresh Firefox” button at the top right of the Troubleshooting Information page. Select “Refresh Firefox” in the confirmation prompt. The Firefox will start a process to fix your problems that caused by the MapsTrek that causes lots of unwanted pop ups. Once, it’s finished, click the “Finish” button.

Remove MapsTrek ads from Chrome

If your Chrome web-browser is redirected to annoying MapsTrek ads, it may be necessary to completely reset your internet browser application to its default settings.

  1. First start the Chrome and click Menu button (small button in the form of three dots).
  2. It will show the Google Chrome main menu. Choose More Tools, then click Extensions.
  3. You will see the list of installed plugins. If the list has the addon labeled with “Installed by enterprise policy” or “Installed by your administrator”, then complete the following guidance: Remove Chrome extensions installed by enterprise policy.
  4. Now open the Chrome menu once again, press the “Settings” menu.
  5. You will see the Chrome’s settings page. Scroll down and click “Advanced” link.
  6. Scroll down again and click the “Reset” button.
  7. The Chrome will open the reset profile settings page as shown on the image above.
  8. Next click the “Reset” button.
  9. Once this task is complete, your web browser’s newtab page, search engine by default and start page will be restored to their original defaults.

Remove MapsTrek from IE

If you find that Internet Explorer web-browser settings had been replaced by MapsTrek, which cause annoying pop-up ads to appear, then you may revert back your settings, via the reset web-browser procedure.

First, open the Internet Explorer, then press ‘gear’ icon IE tools menu icon. It will open the Tools drop-down menu on the right part of the internet browser, then press the “Internet Options” as shown in the figure below.

In the “Internet Options” screen, select the “Advanced” tab, then click the “Reset” button. The Microsoft Internet Explorer will show the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” dialog box. Further, press the “Delete personal settings” check box to select it. Next, click the “Reset” button as displayed below.

When the process is finished, press “Close” button. Close the IE and restart your computer for the changes to take effect. This step will help you to restore your web-browser’s newtab, search provider by default and start page to default state.
