Delete unwanted Scheduled Tasks

Once installed, the adware can add a task in to the Windows Task Scheduler Library. Due to this, every time when you launch your personal computer, it will display Hotivit.net undesired website. So, you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and remove all malicious tasks that have been created by unwanted applications.

Press Windows and R keys on your keyboard at the same time. It will display a prompt that called Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and press OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, click “Task Scheduler Library”, as displayed on the image below.

Found something like “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address” or “firefox.exe http://site.address”, then you need remove this task. If you are not sure that executes the task, then google it. If it is a component of the unwanted apps, then this task also should be removed.

Further press on it with the right mouse button and select Delete as shown in the following example.

Remove Hotivit.net redirect from Google Chrome

Like other modern browsers, the Chrome has the ability to reset the settings to their default values and thereby recover the internet browser’s settings like search provider, start page and new tab page that have been changed by the adware related to Hotivit.net pop-ups.

  1. First start the Google Chrome and press Menu button (small button in the form of three dots).
  2. It will open the Chrome main menu. Select More Tools, then click Extensions.
  3. You’ll see the list of installed plugins. If the list has the plugin labeled with “Installed by enterprise policy” or “Installed by your administrator”, then complete the following steps: Remove Chrome extensions installed by enterprise policy.
  4. Now open the Chrome menu once again, click the “Settings” menu.
  5. You will see the Chrome’s settings page. Scroll down and click “Advanced” link.
  6. Scroll down again and click the “Reset” button.
  7. The Chrome will show the reset profile settings page as shown on the screen above.
  8. Next click the “Reset” button.
  9. Once this task is finished, your internet browser’s newtab page, search engine by default and homepage will be restored to their original defaults.

Get rid of Hotivit.net popup ads from Firefox

If your Firefox internet browser is redirected to Hotivit.net without your permission or an unknown search engine opens results for your search, then it may be time to perform the web-browser reset. It will keep your personal information such as browsing history, bookmarks, passwords and web form auto-fill data.

First, run the Mozilla Firefox. Next, click the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (Firefox menu button). It will show the drop-down menu. Next, click the Help button (Mozilla Firefox help button).
