How to remove Gen:Variant.Razy trojan [Virus removal guide]

The following instructions is a step-by-step guide, which will help you manually delete Gen:Variant.Razy malware from the Windows 10 and other versions of Microsoft Windows OS.

Uninstall suspicious programs through the Control Panel of your computer

In order to remove any unwanted software, open the Windows Control Panel and click on “Uninstall a program”. Check the list of installed apps. If you have many apps installed, you can help simplify the search of harmful applications by sort the list by date of installation. Once you’ve found a suspicious, unwanted or unused program, right click to it, after that click ‘Uninstall’.

First, press ‘Start’ button and select ‘Control Panel’ at right panel as displayed in the figure below.

Once the Windows ‘Control Panel’ opens, you need to press ‘Uninstall a program’ under ‘Programs’ like below.

You will see a list of software installed on your system. We recommend to sort the list by date of installation to quickly find the apps that were installed last. If you are in doubt, you can always check the program by doing a search for her name in Google, Yahoo or Bing. Once the program which you need to delete is found, simply click on its name, and then click ‘Uninstall’ like below.

Get rid of unwanted Scheduled Tasks

If the Gen:Variant.Razy virus starts automatically on Windows bootup or at equal time intervals, then you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and remove all tasks that have been created by this trojan.

Press Windows and R keys on your keyboard simultaneously. It will open a prompt that called Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, click “Task Scheduler Library”, as on the image below.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Select the first task, its properties will be display just below automatically. Next, press the Actions tab. Necessary to look at the text which is written under Details. Found something suspicious, then you need remove this task. If you are not sure that executes the task, then google it. If it’s a component of the malicious program, then this task also should be removed.

Further click on it with the right mouse button and select Delete as displayed in the following example.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by the Gen:Variant.Razy trojan. Once is finished, close the Task Scheduler window.

It’s not enough to remove Gen:Variant.Razy from your system by completing the manual steps above to solve all problems. After the downloading process is complete, close all software and windows on your PC. Double-click the set up file named Zemana.AntiMalware.Setup. If the “User Account Control” dialog box pops up as shown below, click the “Yes” button.

It will open the “Setup wizard” that will help you install Zemana Anti-Malware on your personal computer. Follow the prompts and don’t make any changes to default settings.

Once install is done successfully, Zemana Free will automatically start and you can see its main screen as displayed below.

Now click the “Scan” button . Zemana Free utility will start scanning the whole system to find out Gen:Variant.Razy virus wand other security threats. A scan may take anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the number of files on your system and the speed of your PC system. While the Zemana Free utility is scanning, you may see how many objects it has identified as being infected by malicious software.

Double click the Hitman Pro desktop icon. Once the utility is started, you will see a screen as shown on the image below.

Further, click “Next” button for scanning your PC system for the Gen:Variant.Razy virus and other malware. Depending on your computer, the scan may take anywhere from a few minutes to close to an hour. When the downloading process is done, close all programs and windows on your system. Open a directory in which you saved it. Double-click on the icon that’s called mb3-setup as on the image below.
