How to remove Mommys Offers ads [Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge]

If the Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer and Edge displays the Mommys Offers ads then most probably that your personal computer is infected with an adware (also known as ‘ad-supported’ software). This adware modifies the Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer settings to display a large amount of unwanted popup ads on all web sites, including sites where previously you ads have never seen. These ads can be varied: boxes signed with “Mommys Offers” or “Powered by Mommys Offers” or “Brought to you by Mommys Offers” or “Ads by Mommys Offers”, pop-up windows, in-text ads, different sized banners and so on. What is more, the adware, that opens the Mommys Offers ads, can cause your Internet connection to be slow or freeze your web-browser so that the interface is not updated anymore.

The ‘ad supported’ software can change the settings of the Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer, but often that a malicious software like this can also infect all types of internet browsers by changing their desktop shortcuts. Thus forcing the user each time launch the web browser to see Mommys Offers unwanted ads.

Uninstall suspicious and unknown applications by using Windows Control Panel

The best way to begin the computer cleanup is to delete unknown and suspicious software. Using the Windows Control Panel you can do this quickly and easily. This step, in spite of its simplicity, should not be ignored, because the removing of unneeded software can clean up your internet browser from pop-up ads, hijackers and so on.

  1. If you are using Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 then press Windows key, click Search. Type “Control panel”and press Enter.
  2. If you are using Windows XP, Vista, 7, then press “Start” button and click “Control Panel”.
  3. It will display the Windows Control Panel.
  4. Click “Uninstall a program” under Programs category.
  5. You will see a list of all installed software.
  6. Scroll through the all list, and remove suspicious and unknown programs. To quickly find the latest installed applications, we recommend sort programs by date.

Disinfect the browser’s shortcuts

Once the Mommys Offers adware is started, it can also alter the internet browser’s shortcuts, adding an argument like “http://site.address” into the Target field. Due to this, every time you launch the browser, it will be redirected to an annoying advertisements.

To clear the web-browser shortcut, right-click to it and select Properties. On the Shortcut tab, locate the Target field. Click inside, you will see a vertical line – arrow pointer, move it (using -> arrow key on your keyboard) to the right as possible. You will see a text which begins with “http://” which has been added here. You need to remove it.

When the argument is removed, press the OK button. You need to clean all shortcuts of all your web-browsers, as they may be infected too.

Remove Mommys Offers pop-up ads from Chrome

Open the Google Chrome menu by clicking on the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (google chrome menu button). It opens the drop-down menu. Next, click the “Settings” option.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Show advanced settings” link. Now scroll down until the Reset settings section is visible, as shown on the image below and press the “Reset settings” button.

Confirm your action, press the “Reset” button.

Remove Mommys Offers pop-ups from Mozilla Firefox

First, start the Firefox. Next, click the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (FF menu button). It will show the drop-down menu. Next, press the “Help” button (Firefox help button).

In the Help menu, press the “Troubleshooting Information”. In the upper-right corner of the “Troubleshooting Information” page, press “Refresh Firefox” button.

Confirm your action, click the “Refresh Firefox”.

Get rid of Mommys Offers advertisements from IE

To get rid of the Mommys Offers advertisements you need to reset the Internet Explorer to the state, which was when the Windows was installed on your PC system.

First, run the Microsoft Internet Explorer, then click ‘gear’ icon Internet Explorer tools menu icon. It will display the drop-down menu on the right part of the browser, then click the “Internet Options” as on the image below.

In the “Internet Options” screen, you need to select the “Advanced” tab and press the “Reset” button. The Internet Explorer will display the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” prompt as shown in the figure below. Next, press the “Delete personal settings” check box to select it. After that, click the “Reset” button.

When the task is done, press “Close” button. Close the Internet Explorer and restart your system for the changes to take effect. This step will help you to restore your browser’s settings to default state and disable ‘ad-supported’ extensions.

Remove unwanted Scheduled Tasks

If the annoying Mommys Offers ads opens automatically on Windows startup or at equal time intervals, then you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and remove all the tasks that have been created by adware.

Press Windows and R keys on the keyboard at the same time. This displays a dialog box that titled with Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, click “Task Scheduler Library”, as shown in the figure below.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Select the first task, its properties will be show just below automatically. Next, click the Actions tab. Pay attention to that it launches on your PC system. Found something like “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address”, then you need get rid of it. If you are not sure that executes the task, check it through a search engine. If it’s a component of the ‘ad-supported’ application, then this task also should be removed.

Having defined the task that you want to delete, then click on it with the right mouse button and select Delete as on the image below.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by malicious software. Once is finished, close the Task Scheduler window.

How to get rid of Mommys Offers pop-up ads automatically

Manual removal is not always as effective as you might think. Often, even the most experienced users can not completely remove Mommys Offers from the infected computer. This is because the adware can hide its components which are difficult for you to find out and remove completely. This may lead to the fact that after some time, the adware again infect your PC system and it will start to display annoying Mommys Offers ads. When the download is finished, close all applications on your PC. Next, launch the setup file named mb3-setup. If the “User Account Control” dialog box pops up as shown on the image below, click the Yes button.

It will show the “Setup wizard” which will help you install Malwarebytes on your computer. Follow the prompts and don’t make any changes to default settings.

Once setup is finished successfully, click Finish button. Then Malwarebytes will automatically start and you can see its main screen as shown on the image below.

Now press the “Scan Now” button to start scanning your system for the Mommys Offers adware. Once the ad supported software or malware is found, the number of the detected objects will change accordingly. Wait until the the scanning is finished. Please be patient.

Once the scan is done, you can check all threats detected on your PC system. Make sure all entries have “checkmark” and press “Quarantine Selected” button. Once downloading is done, open the file location and double-click the AdwCleaner icon. It will start the AdwCleaner utility and you will see a screen as shown below. If the User Account Control prompt will ask you want to show the program, click Yes button to continue.

Now, press the “Scan” . This will start scanning the whole system to find out the Mommys Offers adware.

You need to press “Clean” button. It will open a prompt, click “OK” to start the cleaning process. When the cleaning process is finished, the AdwCleaner may ask you to restart your system. After restart, the AdwCleaner will display the log file.
