How to remove mainhm.ru pop-up ads [Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge]

Once the adware is started, it can also modify the web-browser’s shortcuts, adding an argument like “http://site.address” into the Target field. Due to this, every time you open the web browser, it will be redirected to an unwanted advertisements.

Remove mainhm.ru from Chrome

Open the Chrome menu by clicking on the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (google chrome menu button). It opens the drop-down menu. Next, click the “Settings” option.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Show advanced settings” link. Now scroll down until the Reset settings section is visible, as shown below and click the “Reset settings” button.

Confirm your action, click the “Reset” button.

Get rid of mainhm.ru pop-up ads from Firefox

First, start the Mozilla Firefox. Next, click the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (Firefox menu button). It will open the drop-down menu. Next, click the “Help” button (FF help button).

In the Help menu, press the “Troubleshooting Information”. In the upper-right corner of the “Troubleshooting Information” page, click “Refresh Firefox” button.

Confirm your action, click the “Refresh Firefox”.

Get rid of mainhm.ru redirect from IE

First, launch the IE, then press the button in the form of gear (IE tools menu icon). It will open the Tools drop-down menu as shown in the following image. Next, click the “Internet Options”.

In the Internet Options window click on the Advanced tab, then click the Reset button. The Internet Explorer will show the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” window as on the image below. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box, then press on “Reset” button.

You will now need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Remove unwanted Scheduled Tasks

Once installed, the adware can add a task in to the Windows Task Scheduler Library. Due to this, every time when you open your PC, it will open mainhm.ru annoying web page. So, you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and remove all tasks that have been created by ‘ad-supported’ application.

Press Windows and R keys on your keyboard simultaneously. It will open a dialog box that called Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, click “Task Scheduler Library”, as shown on the screen below.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Select the first task, its properties will be open just below automatically. Next, click the Actions tab. Necessary to look at the text which is written under Details. Found something like “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address” or “firefox.exe http://site.address”, then you need remove this task. If you are not sure that executes the task, then google it. If it is a component of the ‘ad-supported’ program, then this task also should be removed.

Further press on it with the right mouse button and select Delete as shown on the image below.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by adware. Once is done, close the Task Scheduler window.

How to remove mainhm.ru with free malware remover

  3. This will open the install of Malwarebytes. Next, press Next button and follow the prompts.
