Mr Beast Giveaway SCAM in detail

Mr Beast Giveaway is a scam presented as an opportunity to get a cash prize. The scam promises $1000 to every Mr Beast subscriber who follows the instructions (Click “CLAIM REWARD”, download sponsor applications, enter PayPal email, receive money). Unfortunately, anyone who follows the instructions detailed on the site will fall victim to the scam.

The “CLAIM REWARD” link is a phishing attempt link and should not be clicked or followed! Scammers may use long redirect chains to hide malicious content. Most malicious redirects are conditional. It means that redirection only occurs when a certain condition is met. For example, users are redirected only if they click from a smartphone. The destination is a phishing webpage that harvests private data.

At the time of research, the scam came up with a list of two offers that seem to be used by scammers to collect personal data for further scam attempts or other fraud, trick users into signing up for a “free trial” offer that’s actually an expensive subscription to products that users did not agree to buy.

The text of the phishing page is below:

In order to redeem your 1000$ you MUST need to complete 2 free offers below . After that only you will be redirected to claim your 1000$

NOTE : if you don’t complete all free 2 offers, the system will reject you automatically. If you want to enter this giveaway, completing offers is most needed.

THANK YOU !

Your Chance to get $750 to your Cash App Account!

It takes 2-3 minutes for the prize to unlock in your Country.

After following the link, scammers redirect users to different scams depending on their IP address. During the analysis, our researchers were redirected to surveysandpromoonline.com, www.rewardsgiantusa.com when using a US IP address, and to expensivesurvey.click when using a different IP address. Expensivesurvey.click is a phishing site that displays a pop-up window that states that visitors have the chance to win a special prize. It encourages them to take part in a survey.

Typically, scammers ask victims to divulge their personal information, credit card details or trick them into paying “shipping and handling” for a non-existent prize. This information can be used for identity fraud, to conduct unauthorized financial transactions and make fraudulent purchases, to sell to criminals on the dark web, or other malicious purposes. Moreover, the criminals can use stolen email addresses and phone numbers to send spam and malspam (spam emails containing malware or links to malware).
