After following the link, scammers redirect users to different scams depending on their IP address. During the analysis, our researchers were redirected to surveysandpromoonline.com, www.rewardsgiantusa.com when using a US IP address, and to expensivesurvey.click when using a different IP address. Expensivesurvey.click is a phishing site that displays a pop-up window that states that visitors have the chance to win a special prize. It encourages them to take part in a survey.
Typically, scammers ask victims to divulge their personal information, credit card details or trick them into paying “shipping and handling” for a non-existent prize. This information can be used for identity fraud, to conduct unauthorized financial transactions and make fraudulent purchases, to sell to criminals on the dark web, or other malicious purposes. Moreover, the criminals can use stolen email addresses and phone numbers to send spam and malspam (spam emails containing malware or links to malware).
