SubVideoTube is supposed to be an app that will improve the browsing experience, but it is adware. Adware is type of malicious software that presents unwanted advertising on a browser screen, redirects search results to advertising web sites and collects confidential data for marketing purposes. The SubVideoTube adware can show banner advertisements, full-screen advertisements, popups, videos, or other varieties of online advertising. These unwanted advertisements eat machine resources and slow down your MAC OS performance. Adware can attack your computer’s internet browsers like the Safari, Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

Click Apple menu ( ) > System Preferences.

In System Preferences, select Profiles. if there is no Profiles in the list of preferences, that means there are no profiles installed on the Mac device. If there is Profiles in the list, then click on it, then select a profile related to SubVideoTube.

To delete a malicious profile, click on the minus button ( – ) located at the bottom-left of the Profiles screen.

Check the list of installed software

Some browser hijackers, adware and PUPs can be removed by uninstalling the freeware they came with. If this way does not succeed, then looking them up in the list of installed programs in the Finder. Use the “Move to Trash” command in order to get rid of them.

Open Finder and click “Applications”.

It will open a list of all software installed on your Apple Mac. Scroll through the all list, and remove any dubious and unknown apps. Right click to dubious program and choose “Move to Trash”. Another solution is drag the application from the Applications folder to the Trash.

Most important, scroll through the all list, and move to trash any unknown applications. Don’t forget, select Finder -> Empty Trash.

Remove SubVideoTube related files and folders

Now you need to try to find SubVideoTube related files and folders, and then delete them manually. You need to look for these files in certain directories. To quickly open them, we recommend using the “Go to Folder…” command.

SubVideoTube creates several files, these files must be found and removed. Below is a list of files associated with this unwanted program.

  • /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.SubVideoTube.system.plist
  • ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.SubVideoTube.service.plist
  • /Library/Application Support/.(RANDOM)/System/com.SubVideoTube.system
  • ~/Library/Application Support/.(RANDOM)/Services/com.SubVideoTube.service.app

Click on the Finder icon. From the menu bar, select Go and click “Go to Folder…”. As a result, a small window opens that allows you to quickly open a specific directory.

Check for SubVideoTube generated files in the /Library/LaunchAgents folder

In the “Go to Folder…” window, type the following text and press Go:
/Library/LaunchAgents

This will open the contents of the “/Library/LaunchAgents” folder. Look carefully at it and pay special attention to recently created files, as well as files that have a suspicious name. Move all suspicious files to the Trash. A few examples of files: com.google.defaultsearch.plist, , com.machelper.plist, installapp.plist, macsearch.plist, com.net-preferences.plist, search.plist and com.SubVideoTube.service.plist. Most often, PUPs, adware software and browser hijackers create several files with similar names.

Check for SubVideoTube generated files in the /Library/Application Support folder

In the “Go to Folder…” window, type the following text and press Go:

This will open the contents of the “Application Support” folder. Look carefully at its contents, pay special attention to recently added/changed folder. Check the contents of suspicious folders, if there is a file with a name similar to com.SubVideoTube.system, then this folder must be deleted. Move all suspicious folders to the Trash.

Proceed in the same way as with the “/Library/LaunchAgents” and “/Library/Application Support” folders. Look for suspicious and recently added files. Move all suspicious files to the Trash.

Carefully browse the entire list of files and pay special attention to recently created files, as well as files that have a suspicious name. Move all suspicious files to the Trash. A few examples of files to be deleted: com.installapp.system.plist, com.SubVideoTube.system.plist, com.macsearch.system.plist, com.machelper.system.plist and com.search.system.plist. In most cases, browser hijackers, adware and PUPs create several files with similar names.

Once downloading is done, close all applications and windows on your MAC system. Open a directory in which you saved it. Run the saved file and follow the prompts.

Once setup is finished, you’ll see window as on the image below.

Now click the “Scan” button for checking your MAC system for the SubVideoTube . While the MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (MBAM) utility is scanning, you may see count of objects it has identified as being affected by malware.

After finished, you’ll be shown the list of all detected threats on your computer. Next, you need to press “Quarantine” button.

The Malwarebytes will now delete SubVideoTube adware software.

Remove SubVideoTube from Safari, Chrome, Firefox
