Another way to open the “Troubleshooting Information” screen – type “about:support” in the internet browser adress bar and press Enter. It will show the “Troubleshooting Information” page as displayed on the image below. In the upper-right corner of this screen, press the “Refresh Firefox” button.

It will open the confirmation dialog box. Further, press the “Refresh Firefox” button. The Firefox will begin a task to fix your problems that caused by the BasicVirtual adware. When, it’s done, click the “Finish” button.

Remove BasicVirtual from Google Chrome

Like other modern web browsers, the Chrome has the ability to reset the settings to their default values and thereby recover the browser’s settings like startpage, newtab and search engine by default that have been modified by the BasicVirtual .

First launch the Chrome. Next, press the button in the form of three horizontal dots (Google Chrome menu button).

It will display the Chrome menu. Choose More Tools, then click Extensions. Carefully browse through the list of installed addons. If the list has the extension signed with “Installed by enterprise policy” or “Installed by your administrator”, then complete the following tutorial: Remove Google Chrome extensions installed by enterprise policy.

Open the Google Chrome menu once again. Further, click the option called “Settings”.

The web-browser will show the settings screen. Another way to open the Google Chrome’s settings – type chrome://settings in the web-browser adress bar and press Enter

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and press the “Advanced” link. Now scroll down until the “Reset” section is visible, as shown in the following example and press the “Reset settings to their original defaults” button.

You need to confirm your action, press the “Reset” button. The web-browser will run the task of cleaning. Once it’s complete, the browser’s settings including start page, new tab and search provider by default back to the values that have been when the Chrome was first installed on your MAC.

Get rid of BasicVirtual adware software from Safari

If you find that Safari browser settings like search provider by default, start page and newtab having been changed by BasicVirtual adware, then you may restore your settings, via the reset web browser procedure.

Run Safari browser. Next, select Preferences from the Safari menu.

First, click the “Security” tab. Here, select “Block pop-up windows”. It will stop some types of popups.

Now, click the “Extensions” tab. Look for dubious plugins on left panel, choose it, then press the “Uninstall” button. Most important to remove all dubious add-ons from Safari.

Once complete, check your homepage and search provider settings. Click “General” tab. Make sure that the “Homepage” field contains the website you want or is empty.
