How to remove Miksearch.club [Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge]

Cyber security researchers have confirmed that the Miksearch.club is a browser hijacker. When downloaded and opened onto a computer, this browser hijacker quickly modifies the Google Chrome, MS Edge, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer web-browser’s settings like home page, newtab page and search provider to its own website without any permission. For this reason, every time you run the affected web browser, it being rerouted to the Miksearch.club web-site. Even though you have uninstalled its address from your web-browser’s settings, after restart your browser, the unwanted site still appears.

After the hijack, common symptoms include:

  • Modifying the Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome built-in search box and default search provider to Miksearch.club;
  • Modifying internet browser’s startpage to Miksearch.club;
  • Modifying the ‘newtab page’ URL to launch an intrusive site.

It’s not a good idea to have an undesired program like Miksearch.club hijacker on your PC. The reason for this is simple, it doing things you do not know about. Delete suspicious applications using MS Windows Control Panel

Open Start menu and choose the ‘Control Panel’ at right as shown on the screen below.

Then go to ‘Add/Remove Programs’ or ‘Uninstall a program’ (Microsoft Windows 7 or Vista) as displayed on the screen below.

Carefully browse through the list of installed apps and get rid of all dubious and unknown applications. We suggest to press ‘Installed programs’ and even sorts all installed programs by date. Once you have found anything questionable that may be the hijacker infection responsible for redirecting your web-browser to Miksearch.club web-page or other PUP (potentially unwanted program), then choose this application and click ‘Uninstall’ in the upper part of the window. When the task is complete, click “Close” button. Close the Microsoft Internet Explorer and restart your PC for the changes to take effect. This step will help you to restore your browser’s new tab, homepage and search provider by default to default state.

Remove Miksearch.club from Firefox

If Firefox home page or search provider are hijacked by the Miksearch.club, your web browser displays unwanted popup advertisements, then ‘Reset Firefox’ could solve these problems. However, your themes, bookmarks, history, passwords, and web form auto-fill information will not be deleted.

First, start the Firefox and press Mozilla Firefox menu button button. It will show the drop-down menu on the right-part of the browser. Further, click the Help button (Mozilla Firefox help button) as shown on the image below.

In the Help menu, select the “Troubleshooting Information” option. Another way to open the “Troubleshooting Information” screen – type “about:support” in the browser adress bar and press Enter. It will display the “Troubleshooting Information” page as displayed on the image below. In the upper-right corner of this screen, click the “Refresh Firefox” button.

It will show the confirmation dialog box. Further, click the “Refresh Firefox” button. The Firefox will start a procedure to fix your problems that caused by the Miksearch.club hijacker infection. After, it’s complete, press the “Finish” button.

Remove Miksearch.club search from Chrome

You need to confirm your action, click the “Reset” button. The browser will launch the process of cleaning. Once it is complete, the web-browser’s settings including home page, search provider and newtab page back to the values which have been when the Chrome was first installed on your PC.
