Remove potentially unwanted software through the Microsoft Windows Control Panel

Open Start menu and choose the ‘Control Panel’ at right like below.

Then go to ‘Add/Remove Programs’ or ‘Uninstall a program’ (Microsoft Windows 7 or Vista) as displayed in the following example.

Carefully browse through the list of installed software and remove all suspicious and unknown applications. We suggest to click ‘Installed programs’ and even sorts all installed programs by date. When you’ve found anything questionable that may be the hijacker that redirects your web-browser to the GetMaps Search page or other potentially unwanted application (PUA), then choose this program and click ‘Uninstall’ in the upper part of the window. If the questionable program blocked from removal, then run Revo Uninstaller Freeware to completely delete it from your computer.

Delete GetMaps Search from Internet Explorer

The IE reset is great if your web browser is hijacked or you have unwanted extensions or toolbars on your web browser, which installed by a malicious software.

First, open the IE. Next, click the button in the form of gear (Internet Explorer tools menu icon). It will display the Tools drop-down menu, press the “Internet Options” as shown in the figure below.

In the “Internet Options” window click on the Advanced tab, then click the Reset button. The IE will open the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” window like below. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box, then press “Reset” button.

You will now need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Remove GetMaps Search from Mozilla Firefox

This step will help you delete GetMaps Search, third-party toolbars, disable harmful extensions and restore your default home page, newtab page and search engine settings.

Click the Menu button (looks like three horizontal lines), and click the blue Help icon located at the bottom of the drop down menu as shown in the figure below.

Delete GetMaps Search from Chrome

Reset Chrome settings to delete GetMaps Search. If you are still experiencing issues with GetMaps Search, you need to reset Google Chrome browser to its default values. This step needs to be performed only if hijacker has not been removed by the previous steps.

First launch the Chrome. Next, press the button in the form of three horizontal dots (Chrome menu button).

It will display the Google Chrome menu. Select More Tools, then press Extensions. Carefully browse through the list of installed extensions. The web browser will display the settings screen. Another solution to show the Google Chrome’s settings – type chrome://settings in the web browser adress bar and press Enter

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the “Advanced” link. Now scroll down until the “Reset” section is visible, as displayed in the following example and press the “Reset settings to their original defaults” button.

You need to confirm your action, click the “Reset” button. The internet browser will start the task of cleaning. Once it’s finished, the browser’s settings including search provider by default, newtab and homepage back to the values which have been when the Google Chrome was first installed on your machine.
