Clean up the web-browsers shortcuts that have been infected by adware

After the ad supported software is started, it can also change the web-browser’s shortcuts, adding an argument such as “http://site.address” into the Target field. Due to this, every time you run the web-browser, it’ll open an undesired web-site.

Open the properties of the browser shortcut file. Right click on the shortcut of infected web browser and select the “Properties” option and it’ll open the properties of the shortcut file. Next, choose the “Shortcut” tab and have a look at the Target field like below.

Normally, if the last word in the Target field is chrome.exe, iexplore.exe, firefox.exe. Be sure to pay attention to the extension, should be “exe”! All shortcuts which have been altered by MyPrintScreen ad-supported software, usually point to .bat, .cmd or .url files instead of .exe as on the image below

Another variant, an address has been added at the end of the line. In this case the Target field looks such as …Application\chrome.exe” http://site.address as shown in the figure below.

Get rid of unwanted Scheduled Tasks

If an intrusive site opens automatically on Windows startup or at equal time intervals, then you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and remove all the tasks that have been created by the MyPrintScreen adware.

Press Windows and R keys on the keyboard together. This opens a dialog box that called Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, click “Task Scheduler Library”, as on the image below.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Please choose the first task, its properties will be show just below automatically. Next, press the Actions tab. Pay attention to that it launches on your personal computer. If you are not sure that executes the task, check it through a search engine. If it’s a component of the ‘ad-supported’ program, then this task also should be removed.

Having defined the task that you want to remove, then click on it with the right mouse button and choose Delete like below.

Remove MyPrintScreen from IE

In order to restore all internet browser new tab, default search provider and home page you need to reset the Microsoft Internet Explorer to the state, which was when the Windows was installed on your computer.

First, open the Microsoft Internet Explorer, click Internet Explorer tools menu icon) button. Next, click “Internet Options” as displayed on the screen below.

In the “Internet Options” screen select the Advanced tab. Next, press Reset button. The Internet Explorer will open the Reset Internet Explorer settings dialog box. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box and press Reset button.

You will now need to restart your personal computer for the changes to take effect. If the Firefox settings such as new tab page, startpage and search engine by default have been changed by the ‘ad supported’ software, then resetting it to the default state can help.

Start the Firefox and click the menu button (it looks like three stacked lines) at the top right of the web browser screen. Next, press the question-mark icon at the bottom of the drop-down menu. It will display the slide-out menu.

Select the “Troubleshooting information”. If you’re unable to access the Help menu, then type “about:support” in your address bar and press Enter. It bring up the “Troubleshooting Information” page as displayed on the screen below.

Click the “Refresh Firefox” button at the top right of the Troubleshooting Information page. Select “Refresh Firefox” in the confirmation prompt. The FF will begin a process to fix your problems that caused by the MyPrintScreen adware that redirects your web browser to undesired ad sites. Once, it is finished, press the “Finish” button.
