How to remove Yea Desktop adware [Virus Removal]

The Yea Desktop is an adware (also known as ‘ad-supported’ software). It is a form of malicious software that designed to open lots of annoying popup ads. Unlike viruses, the adware will not delete or infect your files, but its actions will cause some problems with your internet browser. This is because, it will infect your PC system, get full access to your web-browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and MS Edge and be able to modify their settings. Of course, it did not ask you for permission and do it secretly as possible. Once your web browser settings will be changed, you will be redirected to unwanted advertisements, some of which can lead to dangerous or misleading web pages. Remove suspicious and unknown programs by using Windows Control Panel

Press Windows key windows key, then click Search windows search. Type “Control panel”and press Enter. If you using Windows XP or Windows 7, then click “Start” and select “Control Panel”. It will open the Windows Control Panel as shown on the image below.

Next, press “Uninstall a program” uninstall software panel
It will show a list of all software. Scroll through the all list and remove any suspicious and unknown programs.

Remove Yea Desktop ads from Firefox

If the Mozilla Firefox settings have been replaced by the ad-supported software, then resetting it to the default state can help you to get rid of some annoying pop-up ads.

First, start the Firefox and click Firefox menu button button. It will show the drop-down menu on the right-part of the web-browser. Next, press the Help button (Firefox help button) like below.

In the Help menu, select the “Troubleshooting Information” option. Another way to open the “Troubleshooting Information” screen – type “about:support” in the web-browser address bar and press Enter. It will open the “Troubleshooting Information” page as shown on the image below. In the upper-right corner of this screen, press the “Refresh Firefox” button.

It will show the confirmation prompt, press the “Refresh Firefox” button. The Mozilla Firefox will start a task to fix your problems that caused by the adware. When it’s complete, press the “Finish” button

Get rid of Yea Desktop pop-up ads from Chrome

Reset Chrome settings is a simple way to remove the malicious and ad-supported extensions, as well as to restore the internet browser’s start page and search provider by default that have been changed by ‘ad supported’ software.

  1. Open the Chrome, then click the Menu icon (icon in the form of three horizontal stripes).
  2. It will open the Google Chrome main menu. Click the “Settings” menu.
  3. Next, press the “Show advanced settings” link, that located at the bottom of the Settings page.
  4. Further, click the “Reset settings” button, which located at the bottom of the Advanced settings page.
  5. The Chrome will show the reset settings prompt as shown on the image above.
  6. Confirm the browser’s reset by clicking on the “Reset” button.

Delete Yea Desktop advertisements from Internet Explorer

First, run the Internet Explorer, then press IE tools menu icon button. Next, click “Internet Options” as shown below.

In the “Internet Options” screen select the Advanced tab. Next, click the “Reset” button. The IE will show the “Reset Internet Explorer” settings dialog box. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box and click Reset button.

You will now need to restart your PC system for the changes to take effect. It will restore the Internet Explorer’s settings such as homepage, new tab and default search engine to default state, disable ad-supported web-browser’s extensions and thereby delete the redirect to annoying ad sites.

Disinfect the browser’s shortcuts to remove Yea Desktop redirects

Once the adware is started, it can also alter the web-browser’s shortcuts, adding an argument such as “http://site.address” into the Target field. Due to this, every time you run the internet browser, it will be redirected to an annoying advertisements.

To clear the internet browser shortcut, right-click to it and select Properties. On the Shortcut tab, locate the Target field. Click inside, you will see a vertical line – arrow pointer, move it (using -> arrow key on your keyboard) to the right as possible. You will see a text that begins with “http://” that has been added here. You need to remove it.

When the argument is removed, press the OK button. You need to clean all shortcuts of all your browsers, as they may be infected too.

Delete unwanted Scheduled Tasks

Once installed, the ad supported software can add a task in to the Windows Task Scheduler Library. Due to this, every time when you launch your computer, it will display annoying ad web page. So, you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and remove all tasks that have been created by unwanted programs.

Press Windows and R keys on your keyboard together. It will show a prompt that called Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, click “Task Scheduler Library”, as on the image below.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Select the first task, its properties will be display just below automatically. Next, click the Actions tab. Necessary to look at the text which is written under Details. Found something such as “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address” or “firefox.exe http://site.address”, then you need get rid of this task. If you are not sure that executes the task, then google it. If it’s a component of the adware, then this task also should be removed.

Further click on it with the right mouse button and select Delete as shown in the figure below.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by ‘ad-supported’ application. Once is complete, close the Task Scheduler window.

How to delete Yea Desktop adware automatically

Manual removal is not always as effective as you might think. Often, even the most experienced users can not completely remove Yea Desktop adware from the infected computer. This is because the adware can hide its components which are difficult for you to find out and remove completely. This may lead to the fact that after some time, the adware again infect your computer and it will begin to show unwanted advertisements. Moreover, I want to note that it is not always safe to get rid of adware manually, if you do not have much experience in setting up and configuring the computer.

When downloading is done, close all programs on your PC system. Next, run the setup file named mb3-setup. If the “User Account Control” dialog box pops up as on the image below, click the Yes button.

It will show the “Setup wizard” that will help you install Malwarebytes on your machine. Follow the prompts and don’t make any changes to default settings.

Once setup is done successfully, click Finish button. Then Malwarebytes will automatically start and you can see its main screen as shown in the figure below.

Now press the “Scan Now” button to start scanning your personal computer for the Yea Desktop adware which cause a redirect to unwanted ad sites. Once the ad supported software or malware is found, the number of the detected objects will change accordingly. Wait until the the checking is finished. Please be patient.

When it has finished scanning your computer, you can check all threats detected on your machine. Make sure all entries have “checkmark” and press “Quarantine Selected” button. The Malwarebytes will start removing malware and adware. Once disinfection is complete, you may be prompted to reboot your system.

After the download is done, launch the file named adguardInstaller. You will see the “Setup Wizard” screen like below.

In most cases, the default settings are enough and you do not need to change anything. Each time, when you launch your personal computer, AdGuard will start automatically and block pop-up ads, as well as other harmful or misleading sites. For an overview of all the features of the program, or to change its settings you can simply double-click on the AdGuard icon, that is located on your Windows desktop.
