Have you become that your internet browser randomly shows yx0.pw, instead of the one you want to see? It’s a sign that you have an installed ‘ad-supported’ software (also known as adware) on your PC. The ad supported software is a part of malicious software that created to display a large number of unwanted pop-up ads. Use the few simple steps below as soon as possible. It’ll clear your computer from adware that generates tons of advertisements in the browser and thereby remove the redirect to yx0.pw web site.

The malicious applications from the ad-supported software family that modifies the settings of internet browsers usually affects only the Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, IE and Edge. However, possible situations, when any other web browsers will be affected too. Uninstall suspicious and unknown software by using Windows Control Panel

Press Windows key windows key, then click Search windows search. Type “Control panel”and press Enter. If you using Windows XP or Windows 7, then click “Start” and select “Control Panel”. It’ll show the Windows Control Panel as shown in the following image. windows control panel.jpg

Next, click “Uninstall a program” delete software panel It’ll show a list of all applications. Scroll through the all list and delete any suspicious and unknown applications.

Get rid of yx0.pw from Chrome

Open the Google Chrome menu by clicking on the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (google chrome menu button). It opens the drop-down menu. Next, click the “Settings” option.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Show advanced settings” link. Now scroll down until the Reset settings section is visible, as on the image below and press the “Reset settings” button.

Confirm your action, click the “Reset” button.

Delete yx0.pw ads from FF

If the FF settings have been modified by the ‘ad-supported’ software, then resetting it to the default state can help you to remove the reroute onto yx0.pw web site.

First, launch the Firefox and click Mozilla Firefox menu button button. It will display the drop-down menu on the right-part of the web-browser. Next, click the Help button (Mozilla Firefox help button) like below.

In the Help menu, select the “Troubleshooting Information” option. Another way to open the “Troubleshooting Information” screen – type “about:support” in the internet browser address bar and press Enter. It will open the “Troubleshooting Information” page as shown below. In the upper-right corner of this screen, click the “Refresh Firefox” button.

It will open the confirmation dialog box, click the “Refresh Firefox” button. The Mozilla Firefox will begin a task to fix your problems that caused by the adware. When it’s finished, click the “Finish” button

Get rid of yx0.pw advertisements from Internet Explorer

To delete the yx0.pw pop-ups you need to reset the Internet Explorer to the state, that was when the Windows was installed on your PC system.

First, start the IE, then press ‘gear’ icon Internet Explorer tools menu icon. It will display the drop-down menu on the right part of the web-browser, then click the “Internet Options” as shown in the following image.

In the “Internet Options” screen, you need to select the “Advanced” tab and click the “Reset” button. The Microsoft Internet Explorer will display the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” dialog box as on the image below. Next, press the “Delete personal settings” check box to select it. After that, click the “Reset” button.

Once the process is finished, press “Close” button. Close the Microsoft Internet Explorer and restart your PC system for the changes to take effect. This step will help you to restore your web-browser’s settings to default state and disable ‘ad-supported’ extensions.

Disinfect the browser’s shortcuts to remove yx0.pw redirect

Once installed, the ad-supported software may add an argument such as “http://site.address” into the Target property of the desktop shortcut for the Chrome, FF, MS Edge and Internet Explorer. Due to this, every time you start the web browser, it will open the yx0.pw unwanted site.

Right click on the web-browser’s shortcut, click Properties option. On the Shortcut tab, locate the Target field. Click inside, you will see a vertical line – arrow pointer, move it (using -> arrow key on your keyboard) to the right as possible. You will see a text which begins with “http://”. Remove it or everything after .exe. An example, for Google Chrome you should remove everything after chrome.exe.

Next, press OK to save changes. You need to clean all web browser’s shortcuts. So, repeat this step for the Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, IE and Edge.

Remove unwanted Scheduled Tasks

Once installed, the ‘ad-supported’ software can add a task in to the Windows Task Scheduler Library. Due to this, every time when you open your machine, it will show yx0.pw annoying web-site. So, you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and delete all tasks that have been created by ‘ad-supported’ programs.

Press Windows and R keys on your keyboard together. It will show a prompt which called Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, click “Task Scheduler Library”, as shown below.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Select the first task, its properties will be open just below automatically. Next, click the Actions tab. Necessary to look at the text which is written under Details. Found something like “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address” or “firefox.exe http://site.address”, then you need get rid of this task. If you are not sure that executes the task, then google it. If it’s a component of the ‘ad-supported’ program, then this task also should be removed.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by ‘ad-supported’ applications. Once is finished, close the Task Scheduler window.

After downloading is finished, close all windows on your computer. Further, run the file named mb3-setup. If the “User Account Control” prompt pops up as shown below, click the Yes button.

It will open the “Setup wizard” which will allow you install Malwarebytes on the computer. Follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.

When the installation is complete successfully, click Finish button. Then Malwarebytes will automatically start and you can see its main window as shown on the image below.

Next, click the “Scan Now” button to start scanning your computer for the malware and adware which cause the yx0.pw advertisements. When a threat is found, the number of the detected objects will change accordingly. Wait until the the scanning is done. Please be patient.
