How to remove PC Live Guard (Uninstall instructions)

Myantispyware team December 4, 2009

PC_Live_GuardPC Live Guard is a rogue antispyware program. It is usually distributed through the use of trojans. When installed, PC Live Guard will create several files on your computer in %UserProfile%\Recent folder, then it will be configured to run each time when Windows loads.

Once running, PC Live Guard will simulate a system scan and lists a variety of infections or potentially dangerous files. Important to known, all of these infections are fake, the rogue lists previously created files as threats to make you think that your computer in danger. However, you should ignore the scan results!

What is more, the rogue program will disable Task Manager and legitimate antivirus and antispyware programs (Kaspersky Antivirus, DrWeb, AdAware, McAfee, Norton AV, etc). PC Live Guard will also display fake warnings and fake security alerts from your Windows task bar. Some of the alerts:

System alert!
malicious applications, which may contains Trojans, were found
on your computer and are to be removed immediately. Click
here to remove these potentially harmful items using PC Live
Guard.

System alert
Click here to remove potentially harmful programs found
immediately using PC Live Guard.

Warning
Warning! Virus detected
Threat detected: Trojan-Spy.HTML.Paypal.hn

Just like scan false results, all of these warnings are fake and should be ignored.

As you can see, PC Live Guard is absolutely useless and unable to detect and remove viruses and malware from your computer. The program uses the false scan results and fake warnings as method to trick you into purchase so-called “full” version of the software. Most importantly, do not purchase it! Use the removal guide below and remove PC Live Guard from your computer for free.

One thing I’ve noticed is that when I access Hotmail or Facebook now I get the message that ‘There is a problem with this websites security website’ – do I need to change my settings?

I can’t get internet on my laptop? It’ll say “Cannot Find Server,” or it’ll load for a few seconds, then quit out, no matter which browser I use. Even in Safe Mode, I cannot get on the internet. I haven’t installed MalwareBytes yet, because I can’t access the download page on my laptop. Advice? Thanks.
