Myantispyware team June 1, 2020

According to cyber threat analysts, Getcode.biz is a web-page which uses the browser notification feature to mislead computer users into allowing its browser notification spam. It will show the message ‘Click Allow to’ (access the content of the webpage, download a file, connect to the Internet, enable Flash Player, watch a video), asking the user to subscribe to notifications.

Getcode.biz

If you click on the ‘Allow’, then your web browser will be configured to display annoying adverts on your desktop, even when you are not using the internet browser. The authors of Getcode.biz use these push notifications to bypass popup blocker and therefore show a large amount of unwanted adverts. How did you get infected with Getcode.biz popups

Some research has shown that users can be redirected to Getcode.biz from shady ads or by PUPs and adware software. Adware is designed for the purpose of showing numerous pop-ups and/or annoying adverts on the infected machine without the user’s permission. It’s important, do not click on these ads, as they can lead you to more harmful or misleading webpages. Adware usually gets installed alongside freeware, codecs and shareware.

Adware usually spreads bundled with another program in the same setup file. The risk of this is especially high for the various free applications downloaded from the Web. The authors of the apps are hoping that users will use the quick install method, that is simply to press the Next button, without paying attention to the information on the screen and do not carefully considering every step of the installation procedure. Thus, adware software can infiltrate your PC without your knowledge. Therefore, it’s very important to read all the information that tells the application during installation, including the ‘Terms of Use’ and ‘Software license’. Use only the Manual, Custom or Advanced installation option. This mode will help you to disable all optional and unwanted software and components.

We recommend to remove the adware that causes multiple intrusive pop-ups, as soon as you found this issue, as it can redirect your internet browser to web-resources that may load other harmful software on your computer.
