Delete ad-supported software through the MS Windows Control Panel

Some potentially unwanted applications, browser hijacking programs and ‘ad supported’ software can be removed by uninstalling the freeware they came with. If this way does not succeed, then looking them up in the list of installed programs in Microsoft Windows Control Panel. Use the “Uninstall” command in order to remove them.

Very carefully look around the entire list of software installed on your computer. Most probably, one of them is the Ad Galazy adware that causes multiple intrusive advertisements and popups. If you’ve many applications installed, you can help simplify the search of malicious apps by sort the list by date of installation. Once you have found a questionable, unwanted or unused program, right click to it, after that press ‘Uninstall’.

You will see a list of programs installed on your computer. We recommend to sort the list by date of installation to quickly find the apps that were installed last. Most likely, it is the Ad Galazy ad-supported software that causes undesired pop-ups. If you are in doubt, you can always check the application by doing a search for her name in Google, Yahoo or Bing. Like other modern browsers, the Chrome has the ability to reset the settings to their default values and thereby recover the web browser’s settings such as search provider by default, new tab page and home page that have been replaced by the Ad Galazy adware that causes multiple undesired advertisements and pop ups.

First start the Google Chrome. Next, press the button in the form of three horizontal dots (Google Chrome menu button).

It will open the Chrome menu. Choose More Tools, then click Extensions. Carefully browse through the list of installed plugins. Open the Chrome menu once again. Further, click the option named “Settings”.

The web-browser will display the settings screen. Another method to display the Google Chrome’s settings – type chrome://settings in the web browser adress bar and press Enter

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and press the “Advanced” link. Now scroll down until the “Reset” section is visible, as shown on the image below and click the “Reset settings to their original defaults” button.

You need to confirm your action, click the “Reset” button. The web-browser will run the task of cleaning. Once it is finished, the internet browser’s settings including startpage, search engine and newtab back to the values which have been when the Chrome was first installed on your machine.

Get rid of Ads by Ad Galazy adware from Microsoft Internet Explorer

If you find that Internet Explorer web browser settings such as start page, search engine by default and newtab page having been modified by Ad Galazy adware that causes web-browsers to show undesired pop up ads, then you may return your settings, via the reset browser procedure.

First, open the Internet Explorer. Next, press the button in the form of gear (Microsoft Internet Explorer tools menu icon). It will open the Tools drop-down menu, click the “Internet Options” as shown on the image below.

In the “Internet Options” window click on the Advanced tab, then press the Reset button. The Internet Explorer will show the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” window as shown in the following example. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box, then click “Reset” button.

You will now need to reboot your PC for the changes to take effect.

If the Firefox settings like default search engine, startpage and new tab have been replaced by the adware, then resetting it to the default state can help.

Launch the Mozilla Firefox and click the menu button (it looks like three stacked lines) at the top right of the web browser screen. Next, click the question-mark icon at the bottom of the drop-down menu. It will open the slide-out menu.

Select the “Troubleshooting information”. If you’re unable to access the Help menu, then type “about:support” in your address bar and press Enter. It bring up the “Troubleshooting Information” page as displayed in the following example.

Click the “Refresh Firefox” button at the top right of the Troubleshooting Information page. Select “Refresh Firefox” in the confirmation prompt. The Mozilla Firefox will start a process to fix your problems that caused by the Ad Galazy adware that causes a large amount of undesired pop up ads. Once, it’s finished, click the “Finish” button.

Delete unwanted Scheduled Tasks

Once installed, the adware can add a task in to the Windows Task Scheduler Library. Due to this, every time when you boot your system, it will open Ad Galazy undesired ads. So, you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and delete all harmful tasks which have been created by ‘ad-supported’ software.

Press Windows and R keys on your keyboard together. It will open a prompt that titled with Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, click “Task Scheduler Library”, as displayed in the following example.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Select the first task, its properties will be show just below automatically. Next, click the Actions tab. Necessary to look at the text which is written under Details. Found something such as “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address” or “firefox.exe http://site.address”, then you need delete this task. If you are not sure that executes the task, then google it. If it’s a component of the ‘ad-supported’ program, then this task also should be removed.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by unwanted apps. Once is finished, close the Task Scheduler window.

Fix hijacked browsers shortcuts

Unfortunately, the Ad Galazy adware that reroutes your internet browser to intrusive ad web pages, can also hijack Windows shortcuts (mostly, your web browsers shortcuts), so that the Ad Galazy ads will be shown when you run the Chrome, Edge, Internet Explorer and Firefox or another internet browser.

Click the right mouse button to a desktop shortcut which you use to launch your browser. Next, select the “Properties” option. Important: necessary to click on the desktop shortcut file for the web browser that is redirected to the Ad Galazy ads or other intrusive page.
