How to remove BestZiper adware [Virus removal]

The BestZiper is an adware (also known as ‘ad-supported’ software) which created only for one purpose – open lots of annoying advertisements or redirect to other ‘ad-supported’ web-sites. This type of dangerous programs does not delete files or infect them, but like a virus can modify system settings such as the homepage, new tab page and search engine by default and download and install malicious extensions that generates a ton of pop-ups. All the time, while the adware is running, your internet browser will be fill with unwanted ads. Moreover, this adware will be able to collect lots of information about you, everything related to what are you doing on the World Wide Web. Thus, it is clear that the presence of ad-supported software on your personal computer is not desirable, and you need to clean up your computer of BestZiper in order to remove all unwanted pop-up ads as soon as possible.

The adware can change the settings of the Chrome, IE, FF and MS Edge, but often that a harmful software like this can also infect all types of internet browsers by changing their desktop shortcuts. Thus forcing the user each time start the browser to see BestZiper annoying advertisements.

The ‘ad supported’ software is the part of the software that is used as an online promotional tool. It is created with the sole purpose to open dozens of pop-ups, and thus to promote the goods and services in an open web browser window. So, the BestZiper is just one of the programs of the so-called ‘ad-support’ type. It is designed to fill the web-browser’s constant stream of advertisements, or redirect the web browser to not expected and intrusive advertising web sites. Moreover, the ad-supported software can substitute the legitimate advertising links on misleading or even banners that can offer to visit malicious web-sites. The reason is simple, many advertisers agree on any ways to attract users to their web pages, so the creators of ‘ad supported’ software, often forcing users to click on an advertising link. For each click on a link, the authors of the adware receive income. It is the so-called ‘Pay-Per-Click’ method.

Instructions, which is shown below, will allow you to clean your PC from the BestZiper adware as well as get rid of unwanted pop-up ads from the Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer and Edge and other web-browsers.

How does BestZiper adware get installed onto system

The adware usually spreads bundled with various freeware. Most commonly, it may be bundled within the installation packages from Softonic, Cnet, Soft32, Brothersoft or other similar web pages. So, you should run any files downloaded from the Web with great caution, read the User agreement, Software license and Terms of use. In the process of installing a new program, you should choose a Manual, Advanced or Custom installation mode to control what components and additional software to be installed, otherwise you run the risk of infecting your PC with an adware like this that opens a ton of the BestZiper advertisements within the Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer and MS Edge.

How to manually remove BestZiper adware

If you perform exactly the steps below you should be able to delete the BestZiper advertisements. Read it once, after doing so, please print this page as you may need to close your browser or restart your machine.

  1. Uninstall suspicious and unknown programs by using Windows Control Panel
  2. Disinfect the browser’s shortcuts to remove BestZiper redirects
  3. Remove BestZiper pop-up ads from Firefox
  4. Delete BestZiper pop-ups from Chrome
  5. Remove BestZiper pop-up ads from IE
  6. Get rid of unwanted Scheduled Tasks

Uninstall suspicious and unknown programs by using Windows Control Panel

Press Windows key windows key, then click Search windows search. Type “Control panel”and press Enter. If you using Windows XP or Windows 7, then click “Start” and select “Control Panel”. It’ll open the Windows Control Panel as shown below.

Next, click “Uninstall a program” remove software panel
It’ll display a list of all applications. Scroll through the all list and uninstall any suspicious and unknown programs.

Disinfect the browser’s shortcuts to remove BestZiper redirects

When the adware is started, it can also alter the browser’s shortcuts, adding an argument like “http://site.address” into the Target field. Due to this, every time you run the browser, it will be redirected to an annoying advertisements.

To clear the web browser shortcut, right-click to it and select Properties. On the Shortcut tab, locate the Target field. Click inside, you will see a vertical line – arrow pointer, move it (using -> arrow key on your keyboard) to the right as possible. You will see a text which starts with “http://” which has been added here. You need to remove it.

When the argument is removed, click the OK button. You need to clean all shortcuts of all your web browsers, as they may be infected too.

Remove BestZiper pop-up ads from Firefox

If the FF settings have been modified by the ‘ad supported’ software, then resetting it to the default state can help you to remove the reroute onto unwanted ad web pages.

First, run the FF and click Firefox menu button button. It will display the drop-down menu on the right-part of the internet browser. Next, click the Help button (Firefox help button) as shown on the image below.

In the Help menu, select the “Troubleshooting Information” option. Another way to open the “Troubleshooting Information” screen – type “about:support” in the browser address bar and press Enter. It will show the “Troubleshooting Information” page as shown in the figure below. In the upper-right corner of this screen, click the “Refresh Firefox” button.

It will show the confirmation prompt, click the “Refresh Firefox” button. The Mozilla Firefox will start a procedure to fix your problems that caused by the adware. Once it is done, click the “Finish” button

Delete BestZiper pop-ups from Chrome

Like other modern web browsers, the Chrome has the ability to reset the settings to their default values and thereby delete the redirect to unwanted advertisements that is caused by the ‘ad supported’ software.

At first, start the Chrome. Next, click the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (google chrome menu button). It will appear the main menu. Click on the option named “Settings”. Another way to show the Chrome’s settings – type chrome://settings in the browser adress bar and press Enter.

The web-browser will display the settings screen. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Show advanced settings” link. Now scroll down until the “Reset settings” section is visible, as shown in the figure below and click the “Reset settings” button.

The Google Chrome will show the confirmation dialog box. You need to confirm your action, press the “Reset” button. The program will run the process of cleaning. When it is finished, the internet browser settings including the ‘block pop-ups’ option back to the values that have been when the Chrome was first installed on your computer.

Remove BestZiper pop-up ads from IE

To get rid of the BestZiper advertisements you need to reset the Internet Explorer to the state, which was when the Windows was installed on your PC system.

First, launch the Internet Explorer, then press ‘gear’ icon IE tools menu icon. It will display the drop-down menu on the right part of the web browser, then click the “Internet Options” like below.

In the “Internet Options” screen, you need to select the “Advanced” tab and press the “Reset” button. The Microsoft Internet Explorer will display the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” dialog box as shown below. Next, click the “Delete personal settings” check box to select it. After that, click the “Reset” button.

When the process is complete, press “Close” button. Close the Microsoft Internet Explorer and reboot your PC system for the changes to take effect. This step will help you to restore your internet browser’s settings to default state and disable ‘ad-supported’ extensions.

Get rid of unwanted Scheduled Tasks

If the annoying ad web page opens automatically on Windows startup or at equal time intervals, then you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and delete all the tasks that have been created by ‘ad-supported’ program.

Press Windows and R keys on the keyboard together. This shows a dialog box that called Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, press “Task Scheduler Library”, as shown below.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Select the first task, its properties will be show just below automatically. Next, click the Actions tab. Pay attention to that it launches on your computer. Found something like “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address”, then you need get rid of it. If you are not sure that executes the task, check it through a search engine. If it’s a component of the malicious applications, then this task also should be removed.

Having defined the task that you want to delete, then press on it with the right mouse button and select Delete as on the image below.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by unwanted applications. Once is complete, close the Task Scheduler window.
