How to remove Pricechop ads [Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge]

The Pricechop is an adware (also known as ‘ad-supported’ software) that displays unwanted advertisements within browser window and can reroute your web-browser to ad web-sites. If the Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer and Edge displays unwanted ads signed with “Ad by Pricechop”, “Ads by Pricechop”, “Powered by Pricechop” then most probably that your computer is infected with this adware. The ad supported software is an unwanted software that is going to show you tons of pop-up ads and deals. Of course, it is not a malware or virus in the “general meaning” of this word. It will not delete or damage your files, but it can alter some PC’s settings or download and install other dangerous software. So, you’d better to remove adware using the instructions below and thereby delete Pricechop pop-up ads.

The malicious programs from the ‘ad supported’ software family that changes the settings of web-browsers usually affects only the Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Microsoft Edge. How to Pricechop pop-up ads get installed onto machine

Just as the beginning of this post, if you have ever seen the Pricechop web-page appear in your internet browser, it means your PC has been infected with the adware. Most often adware is bundled with free applications. So, think back, have you ever download and start any freeware? Because most users, in the Setup Wizard, simply press the Next button and do not read any information such as ‘Terms of use’ and ‘Software license’. This leads to the fact that the PC is infected, the internet browser’s configured to show a lot of the Pricechop unwanted advertisements. How to manually remove Pricechop ads

Remove suspicious and unknown programs by using Windows Control Panel

We recommend that you begin the machine cleaning process by checking the list of installed software and remove all unknown or suspicious programs. This is a very important step, as mentioned above, very often the malicious software such as ad-supported software and browser hijackers may be bundled with free applications. Uninstall the unwanted applications may remove the annoying advertisements or browser redirect to unknown or annoying web pages.

Press Windows key windows key, then click Search windows search. Type “Control panel”and press Enter.

First, click “Start” and select “Control Panel”.

Next, click “Uninstall a program” Remove program panel
It’ll show a list of all applications. Scroll through the all list, and uninstall any suspicious and unknown software. To quickly find the latest installed software, we recommend sort applications by date of installation in the Control panel.

Disinfect the browser’s shortcuts to get rid of Pricechop redirect

When the adware is started, it can also modify the web-browser’s shortcuts, adding an argument like “http://site.address” into the Target field. Due to this, every time you launch the internet browser, it will be rerouted to an unwanted ads.

To clear the web-browser shortcut, right-click to it and select Properties. On the Shortcut tab, locate the Target field. Click inside, you will see a vertical line – arrow pointer, move it (using -> arrow key on your keyboard) to the right as possible. You will see a text which begins with “http://” which has been added here. You need to remove it.

When the argument is removed, press the OK button. You need to clean all shortcuts of all your browsers, as they may be infected too.

Delete Pricechop ads from Mozilla Firefox

First, run the Firefox. Next, press the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (FF menu button). It will open the drop-down menu. Next, click the “Help” button (Firefox help button).

In the Help menu, press the “Troubleshooting Information”. In the upper-right corner of the “Troubleshooting Information” page, click “Refresh Firefox” button.

Confirm your action, click the “Refresh Firefox”.

Remove Pricechop pop-up ads from Chrome

Reset Chrome settings is a easy way to remove the malware and ad-supported software, as well as to restore the web-browser’s settings that have been modified by ‘ad supported’ software.

  1. Now launch the Chrome and click Menu button (small button in the form of three horizontal stripes).
  2. It will open the Chrome main menu. Select “Settings” option.
  3. You will see the Google Chrome’s settings page. Scroll down and click “Show advanced settings” link.
  4. Scroll down again and click the “Reset settings” button.
  5. The Chrome will show the reset profile settings page as shown on the image above.
  6. Next, click the “Reset” button.
  7. When this procedure is finished, your web-browser’s settings will be restored to their original defaults. This will reset your homepage, new tab and default search engine.

Delete Pricechop advertisements from Internet Explorer

First, start the Internet Explorer, then press the button in the form of gear (IE tools menu icon). It will display the Tools drop-down menu as on the image below. Next, click the “Internet Options”.

In the Internet Options window click on the Advanced tab, then click the Reset button. The Internet Explorer will show the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” window as shown in the figure below. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box, then click on “Reset” button.

You will now need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Remove unwanted Scheduled Tasks

Once installed, the ad-supported software can add a task in to the Windows Task Scheduler Library. Due to this, every time when you open your PC system, it will display Pricechop annoying ads. So, you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and remove all tasks that have been created by ‘ad-supported’ program.

Press Windows and R keys on your keyboard at the same time. It will open a prompt that titled as Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, press “Task Scheduler Library”, like below.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Select the first task, its properties will be show just below automatically. Next, press the Actions tab. Necessary to look at the text which is written under Details. Found something such as “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address” or “firefox.exe http://site.address”, then you need remove this task. If you are not sure that executes the task, then google it. If it’s a component of the unwanted software, then this task also should be removed.

Further press on it with the right mouse button and select Delete as shown on the screen below.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by ‘ad-supported’ programs. Once is finished, close the Task Scheduler window.

How to remove Pricechop automatically

Manual removal is not always as effective as you might think. Often, even the most experienced users can not completely get rid of Pricechop ads from the infected PC. This is because the ‘ad supported’ software can hide its components which are difficult for you to find out and remove completely. This may lead to the fact that after some time, the adware again infect your machine and it will start to display unwanted Pricechop pop-ups. Moreover, I want to note that it is not always safe to remove ad-supported software manually, if you do not have much experience in setting up and configuring the PC.

When the download is finished, close all programs on your computer. Next, open the setup file named mb3-setup. If the “User Account Control” prompt pops up as shown in the figure below, click the Yes button.

It will display the “Setup wizard” that will help you install Malwarebytes on your computer. Follow the prompts and don’t make any changes to default settings.

Once setup is done successfully, click Finish button. Then Malwarebytes will automatically start and you can see its main screen as shown on the screen below.

Now press the “Scan Now” button to perform a system scan for the Pricechop adware. When the adware or malware is found, the number of the detected objects will change accordingly. Wait until the the scanning is done. Please be patient.

Once the checking is finished, you can check all threats detected on your system. Make sure all entries have “checkmark” and click “Quarantine Selected” button. The Malwarebytes will begin removing malware and adware which cause Pricechop pop-up ads. Once disinfection is done, you may be prompted to reboot your PC system.

After the download is done, open the file location and double-click the AdwCleaner icon. It will run the AdwCleaner tool and you will see a screen as shown on the screen below. If the User Account Control dialog box will ask you want to open the program, press Yes button to continue.

Now, click the “Scan” for scanning your machine for the ‘ad supported’ software that cause a redirect to Pricechop advertisements.

You need to press “Clean” button. It will show a prompt, press “OK” to begin the cleaning process. When the clean up is finished, the AdwCleaner may ask you to reboot your personal computer. After reboot, the AdwCleaner will open the log file.
