How to uninstall PixelUnlimited app/extension from Mac (Virus removal guide)

Myantispyware team July 15, 2022

What is PixelUnlimited

According to security professionals, PixelUnlimited is an Adware application that targets Apple computers. Adware is a form of malicious software designed to display unwanted advertisements on a computer screen. Some of these advertisements are scams or fake advertisements designed to deceive users. Even harmless ads can become really annoying. Adware can be installed unintentionally and without users’ knowledge when they open email attachments, install malicious downloads, fake updates, or freeware.

Unwanted ads

Does adware steal your data? The adware may analyze the location and sites you visit on the World Wide Web and then display ads for the types of content, goods or services featured on them. Adware authors may collect and sell information about your browsing, purchases, searches, downloads and behavior to third parties.

How does PixelUnlimited get on your MAC

The most common way to get adware is with a freeware installer. In most cases, a user has a chance to disable all unnecessary software, but some installers are designed to confuse regular users into installing PUPs and adware. In any case, it’s easier to prevent adware than to clean your computer after it. So keep your browser up to date (turn on automatic updates), run good antivirus software, double check for free programs before launching them (do a Google search, scan the downloaded file with VirusTotal), avoid questionable and malicious web pages.
