Myantispyware team April 29, 2022

What is Websearches.club?

The cyber threat analysts have determined that Websearches.club is an untrustworthy search engine that is promoted by potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) belonging to the group of Browser hijackers. Browser hijackers is a part of malicious software designed to take over the browser and control user’s surfing preferences. Websearches.club commonly aims at Chrome browser, but it’s possible that it can hijack other internet browser too. Potentially unwanted programs and browser hijackers can sneak into computers unnoticed due to the fact that it’s actively being promoted in freeware. We advise that you remove the browser hijacker as soon as you notice the changes it has made to your browser settings.

Websearches.club

Most often, browser hijackers promote fake search providers by setting their address as the default search engine. In this case, the browser hijacker installs Websearches.club as a search provider. This means that users whose web-browser is infected with the hijacker are forced to visit Websearches.club each time they search in the Internet, open a new window or tab. And since Websearches.club is not a real search provider and does not have the ability to find the information users need, this web-site redirects the user’s web browser to the Yahoo search engine.

Another reason why you need to delete Websearches.club is its online data-tracking activity. It can collect confidential data, including:

  • clicks on links and advertisements;
  • web browser version information.
