What is Greengo.team?

There are many scam web sites on the Internet and Greengo.team is one of them. It is a scam website which lures computer users into allowing push notifications. Scammers use push notifications to bypass pop-up blocker and therefore show lots of unwanted adverts. These advertisements are used to promote suspicious web-browser extensions, fake prizes scams, fake downloads, and adult web-sites.

Greengo.team is a misleading site that shows ‘Show notifications’ prompt that attempts to get you to click the ‘Allow’ button to subscribe to its notifications. Once enabled, the Greengo.team notifications will start popping up in the lower right corner of your desktop randomly and spam you with unwanted ads.

How did you get infected with Greengo.team pop-ups

IT security researchers have determined that users are redirected to Greengo.team by adware or from suspicious advertisements. Adware can cause many problems such as unwanted ads and popups on your browser, redirect your search requests to scam web pages, browser crashes and slow loading websites. Adware usually gets installed as a part of some free software. Do not be surprised, it happens, especially if you are an active Web user.

Adware software usually comes on the device with freeware. Most commonly, it comes without the user’s knowledge. Therefore, many users aren’t even aware that their PC has been infected by PUPs and adware.   • Click ‘three dots’ button on the right hand side of Greengo.team site or other rogue notifications and click ‘Remove’.
  • Tap ‘Settings’.
  • Tap ‘Notifications’.
  • Find and tap the web browser that displays Greengo.team notifications ads.
  • Locate Greengo.team in the list and disable it.

  • In the right upper corner of the Firefox, click the Menu button, represented by three horizontal stripes.
  • In the menu go to ‘Options’, in the menu on the left go to ‘Privacy & Security’.
  • Scroll down to ‘Permissions’ and then to ‘Settings’ next to ‘Notifications’.
  • Find sites you down’t want to see notifications from (for example, Greengo.team), click on drop-down menu next to each and select ‘Block’.
  • Save changes.
  • In the top-right corner, click the Edge menu button (it looks like three dots).
  • Scroll down, find and click ‘Settings’. In the left side select ‘Advanced’.
  • In the ‘Website permissions’ section click ‘Manage permissions’.
  • Disable the on switch for the Greengo.team domain.

  • Go to ‘Preferences’ in the Safari menu.
  • Select the ‘Websites’ tab and then select ‘Notifications’ section on the left panel.
  • Check for Greengo.team domain, other questionable URLs and apply the ‘Deny’ option for each.

This step will help you delete Greengo.team popups, third-party toolbars, disable harmful plugins and revert back your default start page, new tab page and search provider settings.

First, start the Firefox. Next, click the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (Firefox menu button). It will display the drop-down menu. Next, click the Help button (Firefox help button).

Annoying Greengo.team ads or other symptom of having adware in your web browser is a good reason to reset Google Chrome. This is an easy way to restore the Google Chrome settings and not lose any important information.

  1. First start the Google Chrome and click Menu button (small button in the form of three dots).
  2. It will display the Chrome main menu. Choose More Tools, then click Extensions.
  3. You will see the list of installed extensions. If the list has the plugin labeled with “Installed by enterprise policy” or “Installed by your administrator”, then complete the following guidance: Remove Chrome extensions installed by enterprise policy.
  4. Now open the Google Chrome menu once again, click the “Settings” menu.
  5. You will see the Chrome’s settings page. Scroll down and click “Advanced” link.
  6. Scroll down again and click the “Reset” button.
  7. The Chrome will open the reset profile settings page as shown on the screen above.
  8. Next click the “Reset” button.
  9. Once this task is finished, your web browser’s search engine, homepage and new tab page will be restored to their original defaults.

Remove Greengo.team ads from Internet Explorer

If you find that Internet Explorer web browser settings like new tab, search engine by default and startpage had been modified by adware that causes Greengo.team pop up advertisements, then you may restore your settings, via the reset web-browser procedure.

First, start the Internet Explorer, then click ‘gear’ icon IE tools menu icon. It will display the Tools drop-down menu on the right part of the internet browser, then click the “Internet Options” as shown on the image below.

In the “Internet Options” screen, select the “Advanced” tab, then click the “Reset” button. The Microsoft Internet Explorer will show the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” dialog box. Further, click the “Delete personal settings” check box to select it. Next, press the “Reset” button as shown in the figure below.

When the procedure is done, click “Close” button. Close the Internet Explorer and reboot your personal computer for the changes to take effect. This step will help you to restore your web browser’s startpage, newtab page and default search engine to default state.
