How to remove TakeSave ads [Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge]

The cause of unwanted TakeSave pop-up ads on your screen is ‘ad-supported’ software (also known as adware). Technically, the ‘ad supported’ software, that displays lots of ads or redirects on an annoying web page, is not a virus. It is is developed to make a money. Once started, the ad supported software injects a small code within the content of sites that you visit. The malicious code may pop-up a new internet browser window with TakeSave web site or insert tons of advertising links directly into the web pages you are viewing.

There are a simple manual steps below that will assist you to delete TakeSave ads from your Microsoft Windows PC. The most effective solution to delete this adware is to complete the manual removal guide and then run Zemana Anti-malware, Malwarebytes or AdwCleaner automatic tools (all are free). How to manually delete TakeSave

The instructions will help you remove TakeSave redirect. These TakeSave removal steps work for the Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, IE and Edge, as well as every version of MS Windows operating system.

Uninstall all adware and other potentially unwanted programs through the Microsoft Windows Control Panel

First, go to Windows Control Panel and delete suspicious software, all programs you do not remember installing. It’s important to pay the most attention to programs you installed just before TakeSave pop ups appeared on your browser. If you do not know what a program does, look for the answer on the Web.

Very carefully look around the entire list of software installed on your system. Most likely, one or more of them are responsible for the appearance of pop up advertisements and browser redirect to the undesired TakeSave web-site. If you have many programs installed, you can help simplify the search of harmful software by sort the list by date of installation. Once you have found a suspicious, unwanted or unused program, right click to it, after that press ‘Uninstall’.

First, press ‘Start’ button and select ‘Control Panel’ at right panel like below.

You will see a list of software installed on your PC. We recommend to sort the list by date of installation to quickly find the applications that were installed last. Most likely they responsibility for the appearance of pop up advertisements and browser redirect. If you are in doubt, you can always check the application by doing a search for her name in Google, Yahoo or Bing. When the application which you need to delete is found, simply click on its name, and then click ‘Uninstall’ as shown in the figure below.

Clean up the browsers shortcuts that have been hijacked by ad supported software

Once installed, this adware may add an argument similar “http://site.address” into the Target property of the desktop shortcut for the Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Edge. Due to this, every time you launch the web browser, it will show an unwanted ad page.

To clear the web browser shortcut, right-click to it and select Properties. On the Shortcut tab, locate the Target field. Click inside, you will see a vertical line – arrow pointer, move it (using -> arrow key on your keyboard) to the right as possible. You will see a text like “http://site.address” that has been added here. You need to delete it.

When the text is removed, click the OK button. You need to clean all shortcuts of all your web-browsers, as they may be infected too.

Remove TakeSave pop up advertisements from Internet Explorer

The Internet Explorer reset is great if your web-browser is hijacked or you have unwanted addo-ons or toolbars on your browser, that installed by an malicious software.

First, launch the Internet Explorer. Next, press the button in the form of gear (Internet Explorer tools menu icon). It will show the Tools drop-down menu, click the “Internet Options” as shown below.

In the “Internet Options” window click on the Advanced tab, then click the Reset button. The IE will show the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” window as shown on the image below. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box, then click “Reset” button.

You will now need to reboot your computer for the changes to take effect.

Get rid of TakeSave redirect from FF

Resetting your FF is first troubleshooting step for any issues with your web-browser program, including the redirect to TakeSave web-page.

First, run the Mozilla Firefox. Next, click the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (Firefox menu button). It will open the drop-down menu. Next, click the Help button (Firefox help button).

In the Help menu press the “Troubleshooting Information”. In the upper-right corner of the “Troubleshooting Information” page click on “Refresh Firefox” button as shown in the figure below.

Confirm your action, click the “Refresh Firefox”.

Remove TakeSave advertisements from Chrome

If your Chrome web-browser is rerouted to undesired TakeSave web-page, it may be necessary to completely reset your browser program to its default settings.

  1. First, launch the Chrome and press the Menu icon (icon in the form of three horizontal stripes).
  2. It will open the Google Chrome main menu, click the “Settings” menu.
  3. Next, click “Show advanced settings” link, which located at the bottom of the Settings page.
  4. On the bottom of the “Advanced settings” page, click the “Reset settings” button.
  5. The Chrome will display the reset settings prompt as shown on the image above.
  6. Confirm the internet browser’s reset by clicking on the “Reset” button.

Remove unwanted Scheduled Tasks

Once installed, the adware can add a task in to the Windows Task Scheduler Library. Due to this, every time when you open your PC system, it will show TakeSave unwanted page. So, you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and remove all malicious tasks which have been created by ‘ad-supported’ program.

Press Windows and R keys on the keyboard simultaneously. This opens a dialog box that titled as Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, press “Task Scheduler Library”, as shown on the image below.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Please choose the first task, its properties will be show just below automatically. Next, click the Actions tab. Pay attention to that it launches on your personal computer. Found something like “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address”, then remove this malicious task. If you are not sure that executes the task, check it through a search engine. If it’s a component of the adware, then this task also should be removed.

Having defined the task that you want to get rid of, then press on it with the right mouse button and choose Delete as shown on the image below.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by malicious programs. Once is complete, close the Task Scheduler window.
