Myantispyware team January 23, 2017

The cause of unwanted cpmclick.com pop-ups on your screen is adware (sometimes called ‘ad-supported’ software). Technically, the adware, that shows a ton of popup ads or redirects on an unwanted web-page, is not a virus. It’s is created to make a money. Once started, the ‘ad-supported’ software injects a small code within the content of web-pages that you visit. The malicous code may pop-up a new internet browser window with cpmclick.com page or insert lots of advertisements directly into the web sites you’re viewing.

Most often, the adware affects the most common web-browsers such as the Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge. But such the malicious software as well may infect another internet browsers by changing its shortcuts (adding an argument like ‘http://site.address’ into Target field of a web browser’s shortcut). So every time you launch the web-browser, it’ll redirect to the annoying cpmclick.com page. Even if you setup a new startpage, an unwanted page will be the first thing you see when you launch the Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox and MS Edge.

The ad-supported software is the part of the software that is used as an online promotional tool. It is created with the sole purpose to show dozens of pop-up ads, and thus to promote the goods and services in an open browser window. So, the cpmclick.com is just one of the many web-sites of the so-called ‘ad-support’ type. It’s designed to fill the internet browser’s constant stream of advertisements, or reroute the browser to not expected and intrusive advertising web-sites. Moreover, the ad supported software can substitute the legitimate advertising links on misleading or even banners that can offer to visit malicious pages. The reason is simple, many advertisers agree on any ways to attract users to their web pages, so the creators of ‘ad-supported’ software, often forcing users to click on an advertising link. For each click on a link, the authors of the adware receive income. It is the so-called ‘Pay-Per-Click’ method.

We recommend to get rid of the adware, which redirects your web-browser on the cpmclick.com annoying web-page, as soon as you found this problem, as it can direct you to web-resources which may load other dangerous software on your computer.
