At first, launch the Google Chrome. Next, press the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (google chrome menu button). It will appear the main menu. Click on the option named “Settings”. Another way to open the Chrome’s settings – type chrome://settings in the web browser adress bar and press Enter.

The web browser will open the settings screen. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Show advanced settings” link. Now scroll down until the “Reset settings” section is visible, as on the image below and click the “Reset settings” button.

The Chrome will show the confirmation prompt. You need to confirm your action, click the “Reset” button. The application will start the task of cleaning. Once it is complete, the browser settings including the ‘block pop-ups’ option back to the values that have been when the Google Chrome was first installed on your system.

First, start the Internet Explorer, then click the button in the form of gear (IE tools menu icon). It will open the Tools drop-down menu as shown on the image below. Next, click the “Internet Options”.

In the Internet Options window click on the Advanced tab, then click the Reset button. The Internet Explorer will display the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” window as shown on the image below. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box, then click on “Reset” button.

You will now need to restart your personal computer for the changes to take effect.

Disinfect the browser’s shortcuts to remove ok-search.ru redirect

When the adware is started, it can also alter the web browser’s shortcuts, adding an argument like “http://site.address” into the Target field. Due to this, every time you run the browser, it will be redirected to an annoying ads.

To clear the web-browser shortcut, right-click to it and select Properties. On the Shortcut tab, locate the Target field. Click inside, you will see a vertical line – arrow pointer, move it (using -> arrow key on your keyboard) to the right as possible. Get rid of unwanted Scheduled Tasks

If the unwanted ok-search.ru site opens automatically on Windows startup or at equal time intervals, then you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and remove all the tasks that have been created by adware.

If you are not sure that executes the task, check it through a search engine. If it is a component of the adware, then this task also should be removed.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by malicious applications. Once is finished, close the Task Scheduler window.

  3. When the download process is complete, please close all applications and open windows on your computer. Double-click on the icon that’s named mb3-setup.
  4. This will launch the Setup wizard of Malwarebytes onto your PC system. Follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  5. Once the Setup wizard has done installing, the malware remover will start and display the main window.
  6. Further, click the “Scan Now” button for scanning your PC for the ad supported software that redirects your web browser to the ok-search.ru annoying site. This process can take quite a while, so please be patient.
  7. When the system scan is finished, it will display a screen which contains a list of malicious programs that has been found.
  8. When you are ready, press on “Quarantine Selected” button to begin cleaning your PC system. When the task is finished, you may be prompted to reboot your PC.
  9. Close the Anti-Malware and continue with the next step.
