We recommend that you start the PC system cleaning process by checking the list of installed programs and get rid of all unknown or suspicious applications. Uninstall searchmgr.com advertisements from Firefox

Open the Mozilla Firefox menu by clicking on the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (Mozilla Firefox menu button). It opens the drop-down menu. Click on the Help button (FF help button). Remove searchmgr.com advertisements from Chrome

Open the Chrome menu by clicking on the button in the form of three horizontal stripes (google chrome menu button). It opens the drop-down menu. Next, click the “Settings” option.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Show advanced settings” link. Now scroll down until the Reset settings section is visible, as shown in the figure below and click the “Reset settings” button.

Confirm your action, click the “Reset” button.

Delete searchmgr.com from Internet Explorer

Run IE, press internet explorer tools menu icon. Click “Internet Options” as shown below. reset internet explorer tools menu In the “Internet Options” screen select the Advanced tab. Next press Reset button. The IE will show the Reset Internet Explorer settings prompt. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box and press Reset button. reset internet explorer settings You will now need to restart your personal computer for the changes to take effect. It will restore the IE’s settings to default state, disable ad-supported browser’s extensions and remove the redirect to the searchmgr.com annoying web site.

Now you need to clean up the browser shortcuts. Check that the shortcut referring to the right exe-file of the browser, and not on any unknown file. Right click to a desktop shortcut for your web-browser. Choose the “Properties” option.

It will open the Properties window. Select the “Shortcut” tab here, after that, look at the “Target” field. The adware can replace it. If you are seeing something like “…exe http://web.site.address” then you need to remove “http…” and leave only, depending on the browser you are using:

  • Google Chrome: chrome.exe
  • Opera: opera.exe
  • Firefox: firefox.exe
  • Internet Explorer: iexplore.exe

Delete unwanted Scheduled Tasks

Once installed, the ad-supported software can add a task in to the Windows Task Scheduler Library. Due to this, every time when you start your PC system, it will open the searchmgr.com unwanted page. So, you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and get rid of all tasks that have been created by ‘ad-supported’ applications.

Press Windows and R keys on your keyboard at the same time. This opens a prompt that called Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click Enter. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, click “Task Scheduler Library”, as shown in the figure below.

In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Select the first task, its properties will be display just below automatically. Next, click the Actions tab. Necessary to look at the text which is written under Details. Found something such as “explorer.exe http://searchmgr.com” or “chrome.exe http://site.address” or “firefox.exe http://site.address”, then you need remove this task. If you are not sure that executes the task, then google it. If it is a component of the malicios program, then this task also can be safely removed.

Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by ‘ad-supported’ software. Once is finished, close the Task Scheduler window.

Once downloaded, close all programs and windows on your system. Open a directory in which you saved it. Double-click on the icon that’s named mb3-setup like below.

Now press on the “Scan Now” button . This will start scanning the whole PC system to find out ad supported software that causes the redirect to searchmgr web page. This process can take some time, so please be patient.

When the system scan is complete, make sure all entries have “checkmark” and click “Quarantine Selected” button. The Malwarebytes will start removing the adware related files, folders, registry keys. Once the disinfection is complete, you may be prompted to Restart.

How to block searchmgr.com ads

Once the downloading process is done, open the directory in which you saved it and double-click the AdwCleaner icon. It will start the AdwCleaner utility and you will see a screen as shown below. If the User Account Control dialog box will ask you want to open the program, click Yes button to continue.

Now, press the “Scan” to begin scanning your PC system for the ‘ad-supported’ software that cause a redirect to searchmgr.com ads.
