How to remove Windows Attention Utility virus

Myantispyware team May 13, 2011     No Comment

Windows Attention Utility is a fake anti-spyware software which distributed through the use of Microsoft Security Essentials trojan as Windows Supervision Center, Windows Oversight Center, etc. Once installed, the malicious program will detect fake infections, hide Windows desktop, disable Task Manager and legitimate antvirus applications, block Windows programs from running and display fake security alerts in order to frighten you into purchasing so-called full version of the software. Important to note, Windows Attention Utility is unable to detect and remove any malware and viruses! So do not pay for the bogus software, simply ignore all that it will display you and follow the removal instructions below to remove this malware for free.

During installation, the rogue will be configured to start automatically when Windows loads. When Windows Attention Utility is started, it will perform a fake system scan and detect that your computer is infected with a lot of viruses. Next, the malicious program will prompt you to purchase its full version to fix supposedly found infections. Remember, all of these reported infections are fake and don’t actually exist on your computer! So you can safely ignore the scan results that Windows Attention Utility gives you.

While Windows Attention Utility is running, it will flood your computer with warnings and fake security alerts. Some of the alerts are:

Suspicious software activity is detected.
Please start system files scanning for details.

Warning!
Name: taskmgr.exe
Name: C:\WINDOWS\taskmgr.exe.

Of course, like false scan results above, all of these alerts are just a fake. All of them are created in order to convince you that you must purchase the full version of Windows Attention Utility and, thus, fix the entire system. So, you can safely ignore the fake warnings and alerts.

As you can see, all Windows Attention Utility does is fake and you should stay away from the malicious application!
