After downloading is finished, close all windows on your system. Further, open the file named mb3-setup. If the “User Account Control” prompt pops up as shown below, click the “Yes” button.
It will show the “Setup wizard” which will assist you install Malwarebytes on the computer. Follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
Once installation is finished successfully, click Finish button. Then Malwarebytes will automatically start and you can see its main window as shown on the screen below.
Next, click the “Scan Now” button to perform a system scan for the browser hijacker and other malicious software and ‘ad supported’ software. Depending on your machine, the scan may take anywhere from a few minutes to close to an hour. When a malware, ad-supported software or potentially unwanted software are detected, the number of the security threats will change accordingly.
Once the system scan is complete, it will show a scan report. Make sure all entries have ‘checkmark’ and click “Quarantine Selected” button.
