Norton Internet Security 2006

Myantispyware team January 23, 2006

Among the few new features in Norton Internet Security 2006, the most notable is the new spyware-detection utility that has automatic-update capability. It’s a great feature that effectively counters the growing spyware threat that plagues countless computers.

The Symantec has upgraded the software’s scanning engines and program definitions, but — outside of a few new antiphishing and antispyware capabilities — did not add any major new features to differentiate the 2006 version from Internet Security 2005.

When installing Internet Security 2006, you are given the option to select how much control you would like to place in Norton’s hands. You can opt for total oversight, which puts all security tasks under the program’s control, or you can distribute the responsibilities between Norton and Windows.

Both options are easy to configure for any user level because the software’s interface is well designed. However, while the software might be very easy to install, it is also very slow. Luckily, you only need to do the installation once.

Once installed, Norton is the perfect background program. You never notice the application until you need it. It’s relatively light on your system resources and won’t shut everything else down when running a virus scan.

When you activate the security menus, every feature is clearly illustrated, making for easy navigation. All it takes is a few mouse clicks and your PC will be secure from any attack.

Internet Security 2006 comes with antivirus, firewall, antispam, antispyware, and antiphishing features. These proven applications are among the best in the industry.

The most notable of the new features added to the 2006 version is a spyware-detection utility that updates itself automatically and takes proactive action against malicious software that might try to get on your machine. It’s a great feature that effectively counters the growing spyware threat plaguing countless computers.
