Spyware Block List File

Myantispyware team January 13, 2006

Are you tired of Spyware, Malware and Adware programs being installed by ActiveX, but don’t want to lose out on important functionality?

SpywareGuide has created a system that blocks known “dubious” ActiveX controls from running inside Internet Explorer by setting the “Kill Bit”.

When a page tries to install a component from our list, it will fail to run.
When a page tries to use a component from our list that was already present on your system, it will fail too!

Other, “friendly” components are not affected.
For users who would like a full technical explanation on how this technique works, read this Microsoft article.

Download and Installation
The best part of this process is that we have designed the system to work without any programs running on your PC, meaning you do not even have to install or run a program to use the SpywareGuide Blocklist! This means there is no impact on important system resources and our system is transparent.

All you need to do is download the -small- registry file below (Right-Click, choose “Save As…”) and then double click it to enter it into the registry and activate the protection.

Update:
SpywareGuide reported: the Block List is no longer available for download 🙁
